In the last three weeks I have seen about a dozen "When will we overtake Microsoft" or "When will we overtake Wii" or "Can the PS3 sell 8 bagillion units this holiday season". They completely ignore the 7 million lead Xbox 360 currently enjoys, almost like its going to be a paper machete cutout to easily blow past.
The other thing that really, really annoys me is their logic for hating Microsoft. It's kind of like the pot calling the kettle black to call MS a capitalistic, opportunistic corporation when Sony is one of the biggest brand names in the world. How they got their fans to call them the underdog in this is absolutely breathtaking. |
I'd have to respectfully disagree on that. I just don't understand what you people classify as "hating" Microsoft. Just so we're clear, I don't hate Microsoft. But honestly, I have noticed some of you Xbox 360 fans are overly defensive of Halo. I got flamed, and branded as a Ms/Halo hater, all because I said I don't think Halo would sell significantly more copies if it was on PS3 because I feel the game has really strong publicity, and anyone who wanted the game would have an Xbox 360 by now. It was just my honest opinion, and I immediately got labeled as a troll/hater, even though I never spoke any ill words about the series. Now, if it was one or 2 people, I could ignore them. But that's the thing, it wasn't. I suppose I could blame the Sony fanboys who were indeed hating for causing the confusion, but still, that doesn't speak well for Microsoft fanboys either...
Anyways, OT: This applies to all fanboys. Whenever they read/hear good news about their system, they won't go out of their way to stroke their e-penis. It's sad, but there's no stopping them at all.
One thing I have noticed from the beginning of this generation is that there were A LOT of 360 fanboys. And it was only fair, really, since PS3 fanboys had no high ground to take, because after all, Sony messed up badly.
Then we have the FFXIII on Xbox 360, which was followed by a gigantic meltdown, which I, thankfully, missed. 360 fanboys were what PS3 fanboys are now at the time.
Then MGS4 releases, and 360 fanboys start never-ending rumors that it's coming to Xbox 360 to prevent PS3 purchases. The first sign of hope for the PS3.
Then Tekken 6 goes to Xbox 360, which is also followed by a meltdown (PS3 is doomed, bla bla bla). Then the 360 gets a price cut, which leaves the PS3 far behind. Everyone is scoffing at the idea of 2009 being the year of the PS3.
And then, just as the PS3 fanboy ship was sinking deep, the price cut comes in, which leaves the 360 in last place, and the PS3 fanboy ship is buoyed back to the surface. The PS3 closes the gap between 360 and PS3 sales in 2009 in just 2 weeks, it stabilizes at high weekly sales, and the PS3 got plenty of great games throughout the year.
Now, as we can see, many arguments have become outdated:
-Blu Ray being useless has been nullified.
-Multiplatform games favoring one side is becoming less common.
-Uncharted 2 set a high bar for graphics. Hell, Microsoft even issued a press release about Killzone 2's graphics.
-The whole "We have Gears of War" argument has been shot down by Uncharted 2.
-The whole "PS3 has no games" has clearly been proven wrong.
But 360 fanboys continue to try and use these arguments, and fail miserably in the process. I wonder why they can't find any other arguments? Yeah, exactly, because their high horse is dying.
Of course PS3 fanboys will take this chance to boost their self-esteem. They've been getting shit over 2 years, which is Sony's fault, but they won't blame Sony at all, and now it doesn't seem like they need to either. They've found that high ground, and they're going to stick to it. Now it's the 360 fanboys who are complaining.
I'm not trying to justify their hating, but to say Sony fanboys are the worst, or there are more Sony fanboys since the beginning of this gen is wrong. All fanboys are equally awful. There've been more Sony fanboys on forums than ever now, because they're trying to rub all the recent news in the faces of 360 fanboys. What they don't realize is that they can just buy the system they hate to end their insecurities. I used to be a blind PS3 fanboy till I bought an Xbox 360 and realized what I was missing out on.
It's how the internet works, unfortunately. Both sides will take any chances they get from the news they hear to demoralize the opposing side.
