Why can't these companies get 1 device that does eveyrthing and is small enough to fit in 1 hand?

We need a cell phone + viable gaming platform + video player + internet browser + music player. I phone doesn't count...as I can't play anything worthwhile on that device.

Then take it back or buy the correct memory.

I don't mean to come across as being rude or a shareholder in Sony but you are acting like it's Sony's fault.

They didn't hide the fact that it used MS Micro. It's big and bold in the specifications.

 I expected they thought you would read about it before you buy it.

You are right in saying that it was all advertised by sony. They did state memory stick micro on the box.

However there is just something wrong in my mind with forcing your loyal consumers to buy new proprietary memory format every 4 years...

Listen.. You don't only need one device for gaming/movies/music. The PSP will do movies and gaming just fine, the iPod Nano is tiny, what's the issue in having 2 devices?

I have a Samsung Omnia (i900) It does my movies, music and I even use it to take notes at Uni. The iPhone is a piece of crap, I agree - don't buy one. That said, I have my DS as well for gaming if I want to when I'm on the train or whatever. Having one device try to do everything will never work..

You're missing the point. sony introduced a proprietary format 4 years ago and forced us to buy it. We all had SD cards and compact flash card but sony wanted your $ for their plastic shell around flash memory.

And now they are introducing another one. If you are willing to accept this and think this is ok...well then, we definetly don't see eye to eye on the matter.

the general concensus is that gamers (not casuals) are a pretty thorough species.

They read reviews through before buying a game.

They know every bit of the specs of a console.

Some even talk polygons ...or is it pentagons..whatever.

the reason they introduced another one is that it's much smaller in size, designed for their phones.

Heard of MicroSD card? Why would they do that when everyone already own SD?

Every company comes up with smaller/better products, it's just the way is.

 

Like I said before, don't like it, don't buy it.
