hmm.. ok maybe i should change that to will paly casual games but dislike their general effects on the industry. Frankly I dont mind playing Wii Sports at a party but I enjoyed getting the wad of cash back for trading in my Wii even more then I did enjoy playing it.

But Tanks is awesome! does being awesome make a game hardcore? Because if it does, Wii play does indeed contain some hardcore. hardcore awesome!

Whenever I hear someone say hardcore gamer, I think of Poochie the dog. I play videogames... TO THE EXTREME!

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

People call themselves hardcore to boost their small self-esteem. People call other gamers casual because they can't accept that some people have different preferences than them.

Here is a thought: There is nothing but gamers. Each gamer has their own genre preferences (Minigames, RPG, shooter, etc.), and each gamer has a different amount of time available in their lives to play games.

If anything you could say that certain games or game companies have a "core" fanbase of dedicated fans, but these people are such a small percentage of the industry that they are a non-factor.

well said naz.

In fact, sounds eerily familiar to something I said not 2 minutes earlier! ;)You should learn to type faster =)

*bans you* hehe kidding.

The other thing that bothers me is the phrase "real gamer."  "Real gamers" play whatever games they find to be fun and don't give a crap what anyone thinks about what they play.  Being judgemental of others for enjoying a certain type of game and categorizing them into a group considered negative because they like those games is immature and pathetic.

Just bought Zelda: PH and Nintendogs this weekend - there, totally hardcore.

No seriously, got Zelda for myself and Nintendogs for my GF. She absolutely loves that game and will pour many hours into it, alongside "English Training". Every day. Together with her beating 2 Zelda games within the last months and now being onto her third one, I must say that she is pretty hardcore. Both by game consumption (we buy what we want, no limit) and by playing time (much more than mine). However, is she hardcore while playing Nintendogs and English Training? You decide.

Oh and if the industry doesnt want our money, screw them.

^^ Zelda:PH is the best Zelda ever, IMO. Good choice.

I never read all the posts, but to me the hardcore game is 16-34 year old male, and the wii has the least in this spot in terms of a percentage.

In a nut shell

Hardcore 2007 = Graphics Whore

Nice that everybody defines "hardcore" instead talking about the (intended) topic. It seems to me that the Wii has a high casual audience that just don't buy a given type of game. Maybe they are wrong for the Wii, but I say MP3 pumped in NA big time. Given the install base, the high review and that is a first party title, the sells are underwhelming. And that could be a problem for Big N in the long run.

If their first party action title doesn't hit, why should third party back them up on that part? I can see better sales for the game in the E.U. because I think (except U.K) the Wii isn't that hyped here and it is a console of choice for a lot of PC gamers. The Software market in Japan is strong, given the titles release, but in NA the software on the Wii is under performing. I personal hope that changes, but at the moment that is the way it is.

I know, I loved the first couple of hours of PH. If it continues like that, it might just beat out A link to the past as my favorite Zelda game. There is just something about those 2D view from top Zeldas. None of the 3D can come close.

Ben, I share your fears. MP3 definitely is not doing as well as I hoped it would. However, what is quite annoying is that most developers making such statements are not even trying. They just assume and dont give the Wii rowd a chance to disprove them.

If I could get my hands on a new MGS, Silent Hill or Final Fantasy, I would be a very happy Wii gamer.
