i dont get it :(

i never played half life, so what does lambda have to do with it?

do you even know what the lambda stands for in the world of chemistry ?

And Gordon's standard weapon is a crowbar.

wavelength, no?

Exactly.

Its a pretty clever reference to the gamma radiation given off when a radioactive substance decomposes, the rate of which is known as its half-life!

Haha sorry if that sounds reduciulously nerdy, but im writing my thesis atm!

Even more directly, lambda is also used for the decay constant.

I thought tau was used as the decay constant (matching the "t" sound for time)? At least that's how we did it in physics lab.

^Correct, that's the decay (or characteristic) time. The decay constant lambda is the inverse of tau.
