Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto on Zelda Wii: 'It's very fun to move your body around'

This. The way he made it sound, they were at a point in development where building a trailer or demo would have detracted from the overall pace, so they were probably in a more foundational point, because Miyamoto recently said (in that whole "seduce developers" thing i posted), that they don't make the game presentable until they have the fundamentals down.

My guess is that they probably have gameplay floating around, and the reason they were able to show that bit of concept art is because the girl is essential to the gameplay (however that be), so they have her made up before they really build the meat of the story

Where they could be now, i cannot guess. But i believe they had something then, but they would have had to go out of their way to make it presentable (take time out to finalize a character model for Link, take time out to build a few environments and a few cutscenes), which is why we didn't see anything, because them just showing what they had would have looked very much like a tech demo, which would have pissed people off.

Early 2011 at the latest, i say. I think they will shoot for a holiday 2010 thing. Unless more tea tables get upended.

I think they have something too. I mean, it's been almost 3 years since zelda TP, they're obviously at least 75% done with the game, but holiday 2010 is not gunna happen.

Do you realize how far removed "barely even started" and "at least 75% done" are? You think that 33% of two and a half years = two years?

yes i do, that was my mistake for exaggerating.

But yes, I think it will take longer than the remaining 25% should take because of delays and other such things.

EDIT: also, that 75% was just a shot in the dark, a completely fictional number. I think it is probably closer to 50-60+%

"Move your body"?

Oh god, I pray this doesn't mean Wii Fit Board + Motionplus.

Just give me old school Zelda, or at least make the motion controls optional.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

NEVER

I demand a new revolution in the franchise

Only way I can see it ending up in 2011 is if it gets Miyamoto'd at some point in development.

But yeah, if Twilight Princess taught me anything it was that Zelda can't just try and emulate Ocarina. They need to be more fresh than that.

You're right!

They should take this formula -

And then apply this formula to it -

Together it = PERFECTION!!!

I don't like playing my games standing on some board and wiggling my arms. I enjoy laying back and relaxing when I game.

No offense to those who like standing or wiggling, but that just isn't me. Not for a title like Zelda.

I only wish this series to achieve gaming perfection and I have laid out the perfect plan for Nintendo to follow.
