Forums - Sales - PSP Go sales dissapointing in Aus - But slim sales good!

don't even waste your time arguing about the prices in Aus.

these are excuses I have herd over the years from shops.

- Aussie dollar is 0.50 of US dollar hence doulbe (fair enough it was at one stage).
- Aussie dollar at 0.90+ may last year, oh the shipping costs to get stuff to Australia is why things are still doube the costs.

etc.. etc..

This is why a lot of Aussies pirate shit. I am luck I have a job and can afford stuff, but fuck when I went to the US i baught like 8 DS games which in aus I probably could of gotten 3 at some of the outrages prices for those games.

I`m now well and trully used to being ripped off by retailers down under, you just have to do some research on prices and stores before buying.

The PS3 Slim has sone really well, I expect it to maintain quite high sales for the rest of the gen. The Sony brand-name down here has always been really strong and while it wont pass the Wii, the PS3 should be able to either get close to or surpass the 360.

LOL, such ignorance. I suppose the AUS $420 for Wii also "typical Sony greed"?????

Lol! The Wii has never been $420 Au

When it was $250 US for the Wii, it was $400 Au.

Wii before price cut 250 -> 400

Wii after price cut 200 -> 370

PSP:Go 200 -> 450

Yeah, totally comparable.

tbh, if EBgames says it will flop in Aus, then it will flop. Ignoring parents buying for their children at Target/Big W (and they aren't going to be buying a PSP Go, EB games has a huge market share

Its $50 bucks cheaper than a PS3 Slim which generally gets a free game thrown in, talk about overpriced.... pfff

This as well, EB game is the biggest game specialty retailr in Australia and they're not giving the PSPGo the time of day. Plus I don't think we even have PSN card in Aus yet...

Not sure where you are getting your figures from because I bought a Wii at launch for $388 AUD and that was nearly three years ago. At that time 250 USD was worth $328 AUD. Admittedly it hasn't dropped much in price since then but that's a whole other discussion.

Having said that the Wii is also much more expensive than it should be currently given that 200 USD is currently worth about $215 AUD.

No matter what way you cut it though, setting a recommended retail price of 450 AUD (417 USD) for a handheld system is not a good move and is just inviting failure.

Wii shouldn't be any cheaper because demand in Australia is still very high unlike the situation elsewhere. A price cut is not needed.

I agree with everything else though, I got the Wii at launch for $399.95 with a free game. You can get a Wii bundle at K-Mart for $468 with the following:

- Console

- 2 Wii Remotes

- 2 Nunchuks

- Link's Crossbow Training with Wii Zapper

- Mario Kart Wii

That's a total of $636 value. So it's not like the price hasn't come down when you consider bundles like that.

Sony's pricing of the PSP Go is ridiculous, there's no argument against it whatsoever.

I only meant it should be cheaper from the exchange rate point of view, from a sales and business point of view obviously there is no need.

I don't know about the others knew but I knew that the PSP go would not sell well at all here at Australia. With that ridiculous price, it aint gonna sell.

It's a huge flop worldwide!!

PSP Going nowhere.
