Forums - Sales - NPD: Top 10 Games of 2000-2009

Yup, now the NPD releases the Top 10 from January 2000 to August 2009 (that's not a decade but whatever)

BEST-SELLING US GAME SOFTWARE: JAN. 2000-AUG. 2009

RANK / TITLE (YEAR) / PLATFORM(S) / UNIT SALES

1 / Wii Play with Remote (2006) / Wii / 11.1 million
2 / Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (2007) / PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 / 10.3 million
3 / Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004) / PS2, Xbox/ 9.8 million
4 / Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) / DS, PS3, Xbox 360 / 8.5 million
5 / Wii Fit with Balance Board (2008) / Wii / 7.9 million
6 / Madden NFL 07 (2006) / GC, GBA, PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360
7/ Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) / PS2, Xbox
8 / Madden NFL 08 (2007) / GC, PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360,
9 / Call of Duty: World at War (2008) / DS, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii
10 / Halo 2 (2004) / Xbox

So yes, Wii play with only 3 years in the market gets the top position. Older games like GTA San Andreas and Vice City are slowly kicked out of the top 10.

No Halo 3 on the list?

List seems off, Mario Kart Wii is near 7 million iirc (with over 5 million in 2008 alone)?

Also, Vice City didn't get an Xbox sku. Are they adding in sales from the GTA Double Pack?

Umm, there are only a few months left in the decade.  San Andreas has zero chance of being kicked out of the top 10.

Wii play number 1!?

Thanks Nintendo, thanks...

Also, where are the DS games? Nintendogs and NSMB should both be up there actually...

I think Nintendogs is split across the various released versions, and NSMB appears to have just missed the cut.

That makes little sense given the varied versions of other games spread across SKUs, no doubt those Madden, GH3 and COD figures are including CEs, varied pack-in bundles and the like.  And Vice City Xbox especially sticks out, given it was only sold in a bundle with GTA3.  Boggles my mind that Nintendogs would be separated down, yet DS/GBA versions of crossplatform titles added to their totals when they're usually entirely different games functionally.

I also suspect in 3 months, NSMB would've been far enough to bump Halo 2.  Mario Kart Wii should've already though most likely.

This is why I didn't vote for you.  You're easily butthurt'd.

Pixel Art can be fun.
