Forums - General - How often do you get drunk?

I drank almost every day for fifteen years straight and got drunk quite often. I haven't had a sip of alcohol since June 20, 2006. After losing all kinds of friends, finding out that my "friends" aren't my friends, a couple of problems with the law, feeling like crap all the time, and being terminally depressed I finally decided that I enjoyed not drinking more than drinking.

I am not saying that it's not okay to have a couple of drinks and have a good time. I also don't preach since I couldn't stand those type of people when I did drink, but alcohol is a very powerful drug (albeit legal) and shouldn't be abused. It can go slowly from you thinking that you're just having fun to a way of life and then to physical dependency. Getting shakes from needing a drink isn't fun. I realize that I'm a drastic case, but be careful.

I got together yesterday with 2 of my friends (both of them drink a lot more then me) and we were standing there wondering what to do then alcohol came up. So one of them didn't really want to get drunk becauase he was going to see his sister for the first time in a while and the other one had to work the next day so we decided to buy a case a beer and split it between the 3 of us (12 pack) and only drink that for the day.

So we bought that and played some ping pong and we ended up finishing the case in about an hour so we were hungry and decided to go out to eat and we got something to eat. After that we said to hell with it and bought another case of beer and we ended up finishing that case off pretty quick aswell. So later on we said to hell with it again and bought ANOTHER case of beer, a couple hours later that was gone and we were all getting pretty drunk, so we went home. (I ended up on VG chartz)

That's what it's like with my friends a lot.

I haven't got drunk for about 3-4 years. I barely drink. Had a drink last friday and it was a bottle of pear cider. It was good in taste and this is why I drank it. I don't understand the point of drinking till getting wasted and then get sick. It's pretty useless and stupid imo, then again, I over analyse everything.

I haven't gotten sick off liquor in like 6 months, you just got to know your limits and what you can drink. You can easily get really drunk and have a good time and not get sick and hungover. You just have to be smart about what your doing and don't over do it.

I'm very well aware of this, but this thread is about when was last time you got drunk. I just prefer to avoid alcohol for many reasons (health and family addiction) plus I don't get the point of drinking it. I don't think you need it to have a good time either.

For instance, if there was some pear cider without alcohol when I went to that place, I would have got that, because the alcohol doesn't make it better, imo.

Well, of course I don't have experience with alcohol, but I can't attest to a single thing that I didn't like at first and then took a liking, if my tongue doesn't like something, it stays like that forever, at least in my experience.

Anyway, I don't understand, if you didn't like it, why did you try more? Sounds completely the opposite to what I would do

Seriously have you never heard of the phrase 'acquired tastes'? No wonder you only listen to music 30+ years old and hate rap and so on. Your  brain is not preconditioned to like everything. You have to give stuff time. And hell is it worth it (hooray for drunkeness).

PS don't be hatin Vgchartz nondrinkers, I spend 10 hours a week in the gym, run 12+ miles a week, have a 3.7 gpa, a good job, etc...I don't let alcohol interfere with my life. I keep it below the ''fucks up blaydcor's life'' threshold.

Hating rap is a good thing, the beatles are great(but I also listen to modern music, if its good), and getting drunk or drinking a lot doesnt seem like a cool thing when you get addicted, get fat, get an asosiated desease and when it tastes like crap.

For people like me that can be a little shy sometimes it's nice to have alcohol to loosing things up a bit and make it easier to interact with people.

Exactly, loads of people say "why drink all it will do is make you throw up and have a hangover" I haven't had a proper hangover in a year and a half, and I haven't been sick off alcohol for 2 years now. I always drink a pint of water before sleeping if I have been drinking as most of what causes a hangover is dehydration.

Drinking (getting drunk I mean) is a weakness I say.

Plus the little bubbles taste bad.
