Forums - Gaming - Bakugan game most expensive on Wii

The new Bakugan video game game that is to be released in the US tomorrow appears to have the distinction of the first game to be MORE expensive on the Wii than on the PS3 or Xbox 360 at release. There have been games on par (same price) at release and some where the Wii version held its price longer (and thus became more expensive). But this is the first time I can recall that the MSRP (maufacturer's suggested retail price) for the Wii version was highest.

Prices are: Wii $49.99; Xbox 360 $39.99; PS3, $39.99; DS $34.99; PS2 $29.99.

I am not aware of any differences that would account for this price point. There is though the target market -- ages 7-14 -- which is the Wii targert.

(There is a Bakugan ball in the DS version and some store-based specials for all versions, but neither would explain the Wii pricepoint vis-a-vis the Xbox 360 and PS3).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I'll make this easy for you and just get the train a'rollin. Bakugan is published by Activision.

Just to add my own thoughts to this, I don't think there's an issue. Whether they change the price a month after the PS3/360 versions bomb or they do it at release, it was going to happen regardless, and it's obvious the Wii version would probably be successful and stay at full price. This is just them understanding the market and who they are handing the game over to. In two months, you'll find the PS3 and 360 version in your local Target's clearance endcap getting pushed out of stock, and the Wii version will still be displayed like a blonde centerfold in a very visible place on the Wii racks.

I figured that out by reading the OP and adding 2 + 2.

Activision certainly have the right to charge whatever they like. I'm reserving the right to be disgusted by their opportunism and stay the hell away from their products.

I hate activision. Still haven't bought one of their games this gen. And I don't plan too. Don't make that many good games anyway. I just stick with first party most of the time.

Activision proving once again to be complete idiots.

I don't see a problem here. They are free to charge as much as they wish for their products.

Well, it will sell second best on the Wii (behind the DS) so I wouldn't call it a stupid move. Still a but of a rip-off, though...

Activision knows who they're selling this to. -moves on-

Pixel Art can be fun.

This thread is amazing.

A game is actually getting slammed for being $20 cheaper in HD.

Heck, I wish all the HD games were $20 cheaper.
