Forums - Microsoft - Halo: Reach - First 15 milion seller ?

If M$ wanted crazy sales for Halo ODST, they could have launched the game at $39.99 or even $49.99 MSRP...it probably costthem 10-12 million to produce the game, and another $20 or so to market it...and they sole what in week one? Halo's power is waning...are you freaking high on crack?!?

I think 15 million is a little too optomistic.

I think it will probably get to 12 million lifetime max

I believe ODST gives an indication of what to expect for sales from future Halo games. Halo fans still think Halo is big, but a lot of gamers have moved on to other shooters.

Was this a joke?  Go check out live activity for Halo 3 this week.

It's not a joke for Halo Reach to sell to so many people it would have to attract new customers to Halo, and games like MAG and Resistance 3 will be out at roughly the same time and Killzone 3 will be on its way at the same time to show other gamers that there is more out there in the console shooter market than than just Halo.

Sales of 7.5 million over its first two years would be outstanding for Halo:  Reach imho.

Wow, Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 are no match for a Halo brand.

They will show... yeah right, just like Killzone 2, Resistance 1 & 2. And maybe you don't know, but games you're talking about are on PS3 :-p

One milion of MP matches/players, whatever (I don't play on MP) every day show that next full Halo FPS game is the most anticipated FPS game, so nothing has changed, really.

if halo reach is using the same engine as halo 3 then you can forget about it selling 15 million.

But it won't be using the same engine...so...Halo: Reach 15 Million confirmed?

Lol It will probably come close to that in its first year alone.

I believe they sold 1.8 million day one and 400,000 the rest of that week, and they haven't sold many more since then.  Even all of the old Halo fans didn't buy ODST.  And, it sold very poorly to new customers.  When a franchise is considered to be the only great one of its kind, then it is easy for it to have good sales.  However other games have started to carry a mindshare with average consumers and as a result Halo sales will be lower than they used to be.

Rage isn't it coming out next year?  And Crysis 2?  They will also impact the next Halo game's sales.

You're a little bit silly here. ODST in two weeks will be 3 milion, is it bad for a game considered as an expansion that lasts "5 hours in SP" on old and not to shiny engine ? I don't think so.

Halo ODST has sold nearly 3 million so far.

Killzone 2 is at 1.98m and Resistance 2 is at 1.67m is that your mindshare?  LOL  those games will never be in the same league as Halo.  And if they give any ideas as to how their sequels are to perform I wouldn't hold my breath.

Little Big Planet 2 will sell more than the first, both Resistance and Killzone 3 will sell more than the second versions, and at its present rate with the legs the first one demonstrated Uncharted 2 will pass ODST this Christmas season.  Meanwhile with every new game they put out the Halo series just shows that they're beating a dead horse for sales that was supposed to end with the third installment and losing fans in the process.

Just like other big fps games that have been big in their time before it (Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem), the Halo series is on its way out.
