im afraid i gotta low ball you on this and call 8-9 mil, mw2 will take over both systems as the dominent online shooter, halo is not dead, not even close, but the franchise has peaked at halo 3, and will slowly start to sell less and less with each installment.and btw mag sucks, and res3 will barley do a million, the only other hd game that has a chance at 15mil is gran turismo 5 but i highly doubt that as well.

15 million seems like a stretch, unless it is heavily bundled, or if it is compatible with Natal and Natal ends up being a big success.

I very much disagree. Ten million will not be the stretch but almost a given for the sales of Reach. You have to understand that Microsoft knows what it is doing advertising Halo. You say ODST's campaign was crap, yet it still has outsold what was expected of the expansion. It knew the type of fan that would purchase it (a.k.a. the hardcore Halo fan) and it pandered to that denominator. Also to be fair, I think ODST still has some legs on it, especially when the Beta for Reach is finally announced.

If Bungie really is rebuilding the engine, and promises an epic campaign, then all it has to do is be remotely smart with marketing and it will succeed. Keep in mind that the multiplayer for Halo 3 will probably NOT be compatible with Halo: Reach due to the different engine builds, so it will force almost every Halo fan TO switch to the new game. Then you have factored in that sales numbers do not reflect pre-owned purchases, and you would have to think that you have a ton of fans out there willing to purchase the new game.

 

I said the AD campaign for ODST was crap in this post.

I don't see it outselling Halo 3 unless the marketing budget is larger than Halo3's.

Halo 3 is the staple game of the 360. Dozens of my friends who have bought 360s got Halo 3 as their first game, and that's not going to change any time soon. 15 million is already a stretch for Halo 3 alone, so I really don't see Halo: Reach getting anywhere near that. It will have very respectable numbers, but not 15 million. Stop overhyping the game so damn much.

I agree. I see reach topping out at around 10 million. It doubt it'll outsell halo 3.

i hope they change it to halo 4(to me more people will buy it that way)
Overall it has a chance but i really dont know until we see more of the game

How is this overhyping?  To me its just a bunch of people talking about its possible sales.  And isn't that what this site is supposed to be for?  While it may be a little far away from the title shipping, atleast its not another Forza 3 vs GT thread.

It's overhyping the effect the game will have and its sales potential.
