Patcher LOVES the limelight with his ridiculous predictions and statements, he's been wrong so many times, i'm surprised he's still in the business, or that we quote him...maybe that's why...people like to have their "ears tickled" with stupid comments such as this. I agree with sega4life, "O it will. When they offer the 2year Xbox Live Gold Plan/Cards" Which i would like, and then we could get discounts/promotions for $80 for 2 years.

This is one of the worst predictions ever. People complain about the price now, if MS did raise it by any amount the the backlash would be a nightmare. I think XBL subscription prices will go down to $30 per year (eat that one patcher)
@xgamer
actually, I think this one is very valid. For people who pay by the month it's already 8$ per month. THat's 96$ per year, but you can buy a full year for 50$ i think. Additionally you can buy a full year card on ebay for 35$ if you're lucky.
It might not be 100$, but I partly agree with him on this. They are cutting out 50% of potential profit off of live by offering a year for 50$. At the very least, a year should be 70%. Most business strategies reflect this. 30% off for buying a whole year is more than enough.
I'm not just agreeing with him because I predicted a price increase 1-2 weeks ago, but because MS is hurting. They've lost their JRPG stronghold, the number of AAA exclusives gap is closing, and the sales gap is closing. On top of it, they're still losing money. They need a cash infusion to pursue things like heavier advertising, seducing developers, and paying for Natal development.

If you're lucky? Yeah, OK. You might be lucky if you find it for under $30, but it's pretty easy to get 12-13 months for under $40.
This really is one of the dumber Pachter quotes. You can try to rationalize this one as much as you want but they aren't raising the price of Live and Pachter only says completely retarded things like this because he wants one thing: page hits.
He knows a headline like that will make people flip out, click the link, get him advertising dollars and hopefully read more articles.
I dunno I think this one is true.
60% off is much more than they should be giving.

this gen will be over by the time that pays off. |
it computed for me.
1. i was annoyed by not being able to play the games i bought (specifically the team fortres part of the orange box)
2. i bought me ps3 earlier in the gen so the $50 a year of live i figured about cost me about $250 which is obviously less then the $323 i spent on my ps3. but...
3. ...it also gave me access to a blu-ray player and all the ps3 exclusives which is worth something to me. apperently it was worth at least $73.
to be fair, i'm more into epic single player games then online multiplayer games. i just refuse to pay for something i don't use that much no matter how much better live is than psn.
hmm would a very weak dollar cause a change in price?
