I was heavily disappointed with it. I guess there was no other real way about it after they dumbed down the original. I blame it releasing on the PS2 as well that fucked it all up.

Actually, you mean Xbox.  They did indeed mess it up having to downscale levels to a tiny size to fit Xbox specs, and overly simplified the controls and RPG elements.

EDIT : Opps.  Somebody beat me to it.

This... So many game has been dumbed down like this that I really don't care gaming anymore that much. :(

You've been ninja'd my friend

You never see them creeping up on you, the sneaks.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Playing it, it's not horrible. I can't really figure out the stealth mechanics though... when they first told me to watch out for the surfaces to walk on, I was going "Ooooooohhh". But I can't sneak up on anybody now, and I'll rather have the speed/jump mods, and the hacking mods than the walk silently and cloak mods (I shouldn't have to use cloak anyway... just go from behind).

Universal ammo didn't annoy me at all so far.

The graphics feel blurrier than Deus Ex 1... in a weird way. It kinda make me feel disoriented.

I'm ending shooting and fighting more.

I DO HATE THE FUCKING LOADING >.==================================
Other than that, the game made me appreciate my purchase of a $30 graphics card =D Now I can enjoy Xbox 2.5 graphics, and play a bunch of old games that are now $9.99.

Yeah I actually went back and played it about a year ago. When I bought it on launch I was so disgusted with it that I only made it a few hours in. After beating it I have to say it was fun, but forgettable. It certainly pales in comparison to the first, and it is indeed just a little too dumbed down, but I think you made the right choice picking it up.

Probably. It's okay, just poor next to Deus Ex in that yes, RPG elements are watered down, levels are too small (thanks Xbox for that) and overall it just doesn't have quite the same level of awsomeness as Deus Ex.
[...]

Small levels due to XBox1 RAM limits is the worst flaw of Thief III too (the others is climbing too easy with gloves instead of rope arrows and Garrett suddenly can't swim anymore).

Even Morrowind didn't manage to completely escape: thanks to dynamical loading, they managed to make the outdoor a single level without separate loadings, but buildings, caves, dungeons, tombs, etc, are all separate levels, there's no continuity between indoor and outdoor and you can't even look through windows (in Thief III there is continuity between oudoor and indoor, a stealth game would be too dumb without it, but the drawback is the fragmentation of medium and big locations in two or more smaller parts, with unrealistic portals to travel to other parts of a same house, road, town. No more huge levels like "the Bonehoard" all in one undivided part, maybe even Angelwatch Tower, the biggest building in Thief II's "Life of the Party" big, undivided level, should be divided in two parts in Thief III).

OTOH Gothic, not suffering from XB1 limitations, has forests, creeks, falls, lakes, swamps, villages, towers and castles all in the single undivided main level, plus some huge separate levels, but the few separations are done in proper places, the entrances of large underground locations, without ruining the continuity.

I liked very much Deus Ex, it's one of my favourite games, and while I could have borne the single big flaw of small levels plus some lesser flaws, like I did playing Morrowind and Thief III, liking the first game so much, the sum with another big flaw, RPG and difficulty watered down, made me avoid the purchase of Deus Ex 2. At a very low price I could try it, but I'm not fully persuaded yet, I clearly remember that I hated Myth III and regretted the expense despite having bought it at less than 10€.

I dunno - the plot (and some of the cast) was enjoyable, and IMO on par with the original game, which was basically the only thing that pushed me to finish DX2 in the first place.

But yeah, otherwise it was dumbed down hard, especially on the gameplay side. Hopefully they don't screw up the third game like that - but I'm not getting my hopes up too much.

EDIT: But then again - Deus Ex is a huge hurdle for any game to overcome, let alone a decent consolized FPS.
