there arent as many gamers in Cali.
New York is very crowded so people dont get out as much.
California is huge and lots of space, and always stuff to do (surfing :)

Hasn't California been hit harder than most states by the recession? Surely this would mean that game sales would have dropped rapidly in the past year.

California also has about 16 million more people. So I'd still go with Cali.
