You don't have to accept an EULA when you buy HW, only when you install SW.
Anyhow, MS is free to screw people, people are free to talk and whine, if so they wish. People are also free to avoid buying MS whenever possible and still talk, complain or whine. And neither you nor MS can do anything to avoid this, so stop, well, no, sorry, feel free to keep on whining about whining, there's freedom of speech, after all.

Anyhow, nobody spun the HDD and other storage matter, MS is already doing enough to put itself in a bad light, no need to embellish it, although paying back the master of FUD with its own money could be fitting.

Wow, I understand what some people are saying.....if you dont like it dont buy it. Very true. In the same breath i cant imagine anyone with the brain power to post on the internet not seeing how absurd this is. So im stuck in the 4th dimension.

Id be worried as a gamer if this were to set a precedent. Luckily, sony has been ACE about user friendly solutions to storage with the PS3. This will continue that as it will help competitors differentiate their product with more consumer customizations.

Im allowed to comment on an internet forum, thats what its for so people bitching about people commenting on a forum need to learn what forums are for and put down the MSFT kool aid. This is a bullshit move, end of story, no haterade needed to see that.

Wow unbelievable, the vehement defense of MS's right to tun a profit no matter how unethical or borderline despicable. I don't know though, I have a tendency to side with consumers so I might be biased.

I kind of suspect some of the defenders are just butthurt that a neighbor/friend was able to get a better upgrade to their hdds for significantly less.

I don't think anyone is really defending it.  It sucks no doubt.

However this is just more bs spin against microsoft.  The simple fact is if you purchased a 3rd party device that isn't licensed by Microsoft its your fault for doing so if they end up causing it to quit working.   Something similar would be the R4 that is illegally used on nintendo Ds's.  No it isn't exactly the same thing but neither are licensed products so it doesn't matter.

Sony has been down this road before with digital cameras.  They force you to buy their shitty format if you wish to store your pictures.  No one beoches about that however.

I avoided Sony cameras just for that reason. If I wanted to spend what a Sony camera cost, I had a wide choice of similar price and equal or better quality brands. While I support Sony (and Nintendo too) as a barrier against any attempt by MS to grab another monopoly, I don't support it blindly. I like its optical drives, but I always hated Trinitron  CRT's, for example.

Protesting against extremely closed, proprietary and greedy MS policies is in our interest: as long as almost all of us have to use some MS products for whichever reason, making it know we don't like its policies and we avoid its products whenever possible also for this reason (sloppy QA is another) is just one of the things we can do to change the current state of affairs.

What a joke.

I support Microsoft because I enjoy the 360 and its games.  I am a gamer, I could care less about the other bullshit people spew about Microsoft or Sony for that matter.    Microsoft is no more evil than Sony, Nintendo, Toyota or any other mega company that is out there.

Feel free to think so, I feel free to think different. Just you could consider that liking XB360 games and supporting MS for this doesn't necessarily mean you must like every thing MS does, just like supporting Sony doesn't mean having to like everything it does. Think also that should you get heavily into movies DD on XB360, MS policy on HDD's would cost you an awful lot more than if you were able to use standard drives.
