Forums - Gaming - How much will it cost to buy MGS IP so that Konami stops ruining it?

I really want that somebody buys the MGS IP from Konami.Konami is a great company but  they don't have that many big franchises and now they are milking all of their few high selling franchises like MGS and PES.

MGS is one of the few super franchises out there like GT,halo, final fantasy, gta, zelda, mario. These super franchises should only have another game release after a gap of about 3-4 years.Yeah all of the main MGS games have come after 3-4 years gap but in between, they are making spin-offs which is degrading the IP.

Kojima, the creator of the franchise wants to have a substantial gap between the release of two MGS games but Konami is forcing him to make more and more MGS games every two years. If he doesn't make more games, then Konami threaten to give the it to other developers which will ruin the franchise and due to this he agrees on making more games.

So the question is how much will it cost to own the MGS franchise IP and who do you want as the new owner?

I myself have no idea how much will it cost to own the IP but I would really like if Sony is the new owner cause they never milk their franchises. They only make a new game after a substantial gap and they put alot of emphasis on quality and give proper development time to the game.

The more games the better. Maybe some of them will stick. It's a great franchise, and Mario does the same thing, but that IP can never be degraded, as the quality of those main titles speak for themselves.

Even Zelda had the target practice spinoff, but what, you won't buy the next one, lol?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'll tell you this. Konami will never sell, Metal Gear or Castlevania, and if they do expect it to fetch for a high price and for there to be heavy competition from Microsoft, EA, Sony And anyone else with money. I would love to see Sony absorb MGS but it wont happen simply because MGS is Konami's biggest franchise.

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Let me guess your referring to the blasphemy that is MGS Rising because they are ruining it by bringing it to other consoles.

As long as the games are great then there is no reason to worry.   Milking games is a very good thing for gamers if you do it right...

Personally I wished MGS ended with MGS4, it seems like by adding in Rising and Peace Walker, the story of MGS4 gets compromised and opens itself for more plot-holes

No,i'm didn't right this article because of the Rising thing.Maybe you are big 360 ***boy, thats why you don't see the real meaning of anything unrelated to your 360 and always look at the negative and write in green.

MGS is my fav franchise,i was just worried about the number of games being produced like

Acid,Protable ops,peace walker,rising,acid 2,susbtance,subsitence,mgs1,mgs2,mgs3,mg4 in a space of 12 years.

And no milking the games is not a good thing for gamers.First of all if a franchise has new games every year of two,it doesn't get the proper development time.No wonder FIFA,NFS,MADDEN,PES are as big franchises as MGS,FF,GT,GOW,ZELDA.

And you will soon see a decline in sales of COD when people start getting bored with the genre. Also if your beloved Microsoft likes to milk Halo with Halo wars, odst and reach, don't think that it is good.

so you want Konami to stop making games from your favorite franchise at regular intervals? weird

You didn't really understand what i was saying.I want them to only make main games like MGS1,2,3,4 and sometimes a one for the portable.

Out of the above listed titles, how only the main ones were great and they were devloped after a substantial gap of 3 years. They got a good devlopment time and the story was perfect, making more and more games every year or too spoils the story and people start getting bored

What's the problem if you think the mainline games are good? Just ignore the spinoffs and you're good. I don't really see the conflict here...

Your defense over what yo_john_117 said is laughable at best.

How could someone be concerned that there are "too many" Metal Gear games being produced? That would be like me being upset that Halo Wars and ODST came out in the same year. Konami produces quality games (mostly), you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Now, if you are upset that Rising is coming to the 360, that would make a ton more sense than your concern over a franchise that is currently immaculate.
