Square Enix’s Final PlayStation 2 Game

All good things come to an end, including PlayStation 2 support. Before that curtain completely closes Square Enix will release one more game.

In Japan, Final Fantasy XI: Vana’diel Collection 2 will be released on three platforms: Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 2. The international equivalent, Final Fantasy XI: Ultimate Collection, is only available for the Xbox 360 and PC in North America.

Must be rough for PlayStation 2 distribution these days if Square Enix passed on releasing a Final Fantasy XI compilation disc. The content is already complete and we got last year’s Final Fantasy XI: Vana’diel Collection.

I hope the PlayStation 2 version of Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love will find retail shelf space…

THE END OF AN ERA!

Square-Enix's FINAL PS2 game is a FF11 expansion pack.

Squares FIRST game on it was FFX, the 2nd best FF ever.

They began with Final Fantasy & ended with it.....truly an END of an era for the JRPG Emperor PS2.

Ironically a month after this game releases, Square-Enix WILL release their FIRST GAME on the PS2's fabled successor PS3, who has just returned from a rehab all slim & sexy!

Let us ALL buy the FF11 expansion pack & say goodbye to S-E's PS2 support, which was spectacular!

Well I won't buy the expansion pack considering I don't even have FFXI but it's still pretty sad that publishers have cut the life support of the great PS2

It really was a beast, I take my hat off to the ps2

PS2 was the second best system of all time to me behind the NES, but in terms of amount of games offered the PS2 sure had a lot. I will surely miss it and hope someday the PS3 can replicate the exclusives the PS2 had.... and that will also be the day I buy a PS3.

Godspeed PS2. You will live so long as Activision and EA feed you those annual doses of Guitar Hero and Madden. *Salutes the best console ever, which will remain so when the current gen is over*.......he he

Standing ovation for the PS2 indeed.. I agree with you darth, no console will ever dominate like it did, and this gen is proof of that. I don't even want to imagine how competitive the next gen will be. Bravo PS2.

Agreed, thats cus I got the PS2 very late, If I got it as my only console last gen I wouldn't agree there.

But I mean in terms of exclusives & games for everyone, it was the best...everyone I knew who had one loved it.

I don't think we will see such a console again, for a long time.

Ahh, the PS2... the legend among legends of consoles... the only console to have Chaos Legion ever most likely. or Drakenguard for that matter... is this... what it feels like becoming an OLD gamer? Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!
