you console fanboys need to stop taking your crydamins. The fact none of you even understand Freeman's character yet say Mario is more deserving shows your ignorance when it comes to gaming period.

 

Seriously, half of you probably think Fox McCloud's character is less developed then Mario.

I don't wanna offend this but I'm throwing it out there.

Understanding the story/world of Half-Life and Gordon's character actually takes intelligence and observation skills. Think of it like understanding Wuthering Heights or Hamlet and what they are all about too.

Basically to lay it out on the table, MGS4, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, JRPGS, etc. = comics (and not the Watchmen kind either), HL = a well written novel.

what do sales have to do with the character?

I meant to say, this many people know Mario vs this many people knowing Gordon Freeman firsthand, but Mario lost, thats a huge number difference. Mario is just some cheerful guy that always wants to save his princess. I have not played half life, so I don't know Gordon. I never played any Mario game for more than an hour either, just Mario is infinitely more known than Gordon Freeman, I think most people voted Freeman because he looks deeper and cooler, not because they know him.
