3 weeks ago, pre price drop, the wii was down YOY YTD by 3.23m... amazingly it is now down slightly more than that...
The price cut has merely slowed the YOY drop. As the sales bump, post price drop, fades then the Wii will begin to slide again.

The Wii now has competitors with much more mass-market friendly prices! One precondition of the Wii's level of success up to this point has been the great expense of its competitors relative to its own price.

I totally disagree. The wii's main selling point is it's controller - hence the large casual base. I think the price helps but not as much as some make out it does.
If the wii had used the gamepad controller as is currently present on the HD consoles (IMO) the price wouldn't have helped it one bit, like it didn't help the gamecube.
Regardless of the YoY the wii is still outselling the TV console competition which is the main thing.
The PS3 is over the magic 200,000 again and that is v.good bearing in mind it is still the most expensive console.
The NA numbers are close between the PS3 and x360, the PS3 may never catch the x360 there but at least now it is putting up a better fight.
PS3 just short of selling twice as many consoles as x360 in EU, the biggest market.
x360 at the bottom but I would still consider that number pretty OK.
