I love how the Wii is just forgotten about. MS do it. Sony do it, but probably a little less. But hey, Greenberg, the Wii is kicking everyone's ass.
Let's not mention Japan, hey :)
MS probably needs another price cut, then. Their hdd-including model has to be priced under the PS3.
What's that gap thread where people point out PS3 would have to outsell 360 by 50k every week to pass it, and how that's supposedly impossible? It isn't. 80k or 100k per week difference is quite possible, too. MS had better open their wallets and pay for another price drop. (Note, in my book that's bad business, they should stay at the current price and try to profit, but if they don't want to get severely outsold they need to drop the price.)
@homeroids: Wii is not beating the others by as much anymore though, huh? That's because of the relatively closer prices of the 3 consoles. We'll never see a price gap again like we did early gen.

Yes Sir! otherwise this comes off as laughable. :)

except he's completely wrong. the last time the 360 out sold the ps3 was 2007, and not by a lot.
BTW the number for this week in America just came in and the 360 > PS3 again. 79,925 to 78,820. PS3 in America is going to be in 3rd place for a very long time.
@Loud_Hot_White_Box
Yeah I realise the Wii is not the powerhouse it once was but as far as this whole gen goes, I think it's won. Greenberg is most probably talking about the US market only but I still think this all comes off as the 2 gorilla's beating their chests for 2nd and 3rd. The one that is currently in front wants to beat more, at present.

Oh, yeah...if MS is talking about America only, that's much more likely.
@Homeroids: yeah. I think Sony and MS basically maneuver to compete with each other and one effect of lowering prices in their battles will be to slow Wii sales as the 2 HD consoles increasingly come into the Wii's price range. Greenberg does seem to make a lot of anti-Sony comments while Nintendo is busy printing money, no doubt about it.

This makes more sense. 2nd WW is difficult but possible for PS3, but XB360 lead in USA is really big, and it's holding its ground there.
Microsoft will win. It's just how it is. And I own both the PS3 and the 360, so please don't call me a fanboy. Sony jumped the gun on the blue ray. Over a year ago someone asked Bill Gates about putting blue ray in the 360s. He said that it just wasn't profitable.......YET. I'm sorry, I just wouldn't bet against Gates or the people that he has running the company. They also have more profit margin to work with to cut the prices. It's just a matter of time. Maybe next gen Sony.
