beat the game twice, 80gb, no freezing or overheating
My 40g ps3
had play uncharted 2 single player mode for hours, so far nothing happens.........
Pick any PS3 game that sold over 100k units and you're going to find a 1000 or so player that had the game freeze at least once...
This doesn't mean said game is destroying your PS3....
PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !
PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

The problem, which is overheating, seems to only occur during the single player campaign and from what I can tell it's not effecting the slim. All I know is that U2 is causing the PS3 to run hotter then any other game I've played with the exception of GTA4. The graphics are increadible and I'm not surprised at all that this it could be pushing the PS3 to the brink. Anyway I updated to 3.1 and then unplugged my PS3 to give it some time to cool off. I'm going to hold off on playing Uncharted 2 for a while and if I'm lucky I might be able to avoid getting YLOD until I get some more information on this issue from Sony/ND. |
While youre not alone, and i do feel sorry for you, the fact that thread has been up for 4 days and has less than 130 posts, not 130 malfunctioning cases, on th eofficial forums i think puts into perspective how small this problem actually is.
Ive notice some users say after they let it rest they play other games fine, so it may have something to do with U2 hopefully we learn more......but to those voicing concerns about getting this game, please dont let this scare you, its fantastic and ive had no problems with 5+ hour sessions on my 80gb MGS bundled PS3.

With all due respect how is the OP suppose to stop that from happening? If you start a thread in the PS3 or any forum it is automatically placed on the front page.
This can of course upset non-PS3 fans but you really should take up this issue with whoever manages the site and not the poster.
I have a BC 80 GB and I played U2 single player straight for about 8 hours. No problems at all. I did put my hand to the back of my PS3 i the middle of playing and it did not feel like the air coming out was any hotter than it normally is.
End of 2009 sales predictions:
PS3 - 33 Million 360 - 40 Million Wii - 75 Million
no overheating with my uncharted 2 so far,
now i'm sure many people never vacuum-clean their ps3 ventilation panels from dust and no surprise it overheats then

I'm sure it's just coincidence, my PS3 has froze a few times as well from playing other games. It's just that everyone is playing Uncharted right now so they are all talking about Uncharted freezing their system.
