DEATH NOTE 2.0 WRINKLES

1. Shinigami Eyes. This was a deal I offered to all Kira members. You can trade eyes with me. And with this ability, you can scan 1 person a night and see their true name. With this information, their roles are revealed, and the doctor will no longer be able to protect them.

HOWEVER, that person will die on the 3rd night in exchange for this information.

The reason why I implemented this was to further counteract the "follow the cop" strategy so that if L roleclaimed early on, Kira have his supporter scan him, kill off the Cop, then falsely take over L's role.

C03 took me up on this offer and scanned both Angelfire AND Raptor, confirming both their roles.

C03 would have died this next night from the deal and the game would have continued, had this present day ended in a no-lynch.

2. Near. I added Near as L's true successor. If L were to get deathnoted, then Near's role would be activated and he would be the "new" L. If Kira tried to ralsely roleclaim after he killed L, then near would know that Kira was full of crap and could call him out on it. Of course, it didn't happen in this game because Raptor never died.

NinjaBlade was near, by the way.

If this game was bigger, I would have also added Mello, which would have been a sleeper role that would activate after L's death as well. He probably would have been essentially a Vigilante role.

Also, I think this game ending was rather flatly and anti-climactic. I blame it on the townies again.

I said that I don't care who wins, but I DO CARE HOW a particular side wins. When you guys just give up or vote randomly (essentially giving up), it pisses me off.

I'm not going to do awards, but rather this thread will now be focused on Balance Issues and info for future games.

First of all, I'd like to say that I'm officially pissed off at Angelfire for being a knucklehead and roleclaiming doctor AFTER dying. It didn't affect the game too much, but it could have and for that I'm pretty pissed.

Secondly, thumbs down for SciFiBoy for pretty much pinning Isomniac AND c03 down, and then laying down and committing suicide after getting prodded by both mafia members.


Anyways, that aside, I think I have a pretty good balance reached for 2.0. If I kept things EXACTLY THE SAME for next time, i think both sides would have an equal chance of winning again.

And with that, I will be putting Death Note Mafia on hiatus for a while. I have another idea brewing and I'd like to explore some other crazy weird variants. Feel free to comment on Death Note still, though!

Hopefully the themed games pick up a bit in popularity. I like the strange twists and turns normally. I have to wonder what would have happened if we had arrested Raptor? That is totally what I would have done as I didn't buy the whole Near story.

I'd like to point out that dtewi was originally Kira, and I was originally just a supporter. I let That Guy know about dtewi not being around and he decided to modkill him, and replace him with j0.

I messed up when I didn't vote to kill Raptor and Angel protected himself on the night where there weren't any kills, otherwise the game would have ended sooner.

As such, my strategy for the last day was basically trying to get people to either vote for SciFi or Ninja, but I expected it would be pretty hard to do it. Once Ninja roleclaimed and didn't have suspicions against me, I was hoping to change his vote from j0, which worked. I didn't expect to get Raptor to join the bandwagon, but that certainly helped cement our victory. ^_^
