What do you guys think? I think it would be a great idea! On the go playing SSB, nintendo should do it, maybe porting the N64 version.
2008 end of year predictions:
PS3: 22M
360: 25M
wii: 40M

Likely due to timing. If Nintendo is planning it, they want to wait until Brawl comes out, so as to not take the hype away from that game, especially since right now the Wii needs to establish its library more than the DS needs another hit game.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Of course what an idiot I'm they will finish Brawl let it sell in maybe 3 to 6 months then announce Super Smash Bros DS the team have been working in Brawl for a quite time now maybe from mid 2005

There's already Jump Ultimate Superstars, which is pretty much Smash Bros with Shounen Jump characters. It works really well, and I hope Nintendo will do something similar. Preferably something slightly different so it isn't just a watered down version of Brawl, but even that would be more or less awesome.
(edit: a random video of the game I mentioned. there's no chance of it ever getting released in the West due to a million different companies owning the rights to the characters outside Japan, but easy to import, and playing it isn't too hard if you just learn katakana.)
From what I've seen of JUS, it's definitely not Smash. Seems too floaty...not enough emphasis put on "more damage more flight"...and I think the DS could handle 3D characters.
I really think Smash Bros 64, put onto the DS, but with more fighters, slightly better graphics, and more stages...it would be exactly what I would want.
The Wiimote on its side has proved itself worthy to hold up against an average player using a Classic controller...and the DS has plenty more buttons available than a sideways Wiimote...it's totally doable.
I've been wanting this since the GBA was released...but the WiFi capabilities of the DS would make Super Smash Bros. DS such an amazing game...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
There are some differences in the gameplay mechanics, but in the end it's a fighting game with platformer elements, and featuring the assorted mascots of a well known Japanese company in a free-for-all fanservice-fest. Definitely shows how well the idea would work on the DS in any case.
Hmm... Nintendo vs Shounen Jump? That would be the best cross-over ever, if only licensing would allow it to be released here in the West as well.
