Oh Sega, don't ever change (unless part of the change involves giving Yu Suzuki 50 million dollars to make Shenmue 3 -- do it!)
End of Eternity (also known in lesser parts of the world as "Resonance of Fate") is currently flagged with a vague Winter release time period. But that's about to get way more specific.
According to Mr. Yamashita at the official End of Eternity blog, "Development is progressing well, and we should be able to announce a release date after a few weeks."
So check back in a few weeks for an announcement about a release date for Sega's tri-Ace tie-up pro-ject. And don't be surprised if this announcement comes in the form of a countdown. The blog notes that EoE producer Mitsuhiro Shimano is a big fan of countdowns.
Hey, would you look at that... a Japanese person who's a big fan of countdowns.
This area of the release date is apparently a big topic of concern for team EoE. Writes Mr. Yamashita, "Even when I'm sleeping, even when I'm awake, even when I'm eating beef bowls at Matsuya, all sorts of dates float in my head and then disappear. As this has continued, it's reached the point where I can no longer remember the current date."
The blog closes off with this mysterious image:
"What is this disk?" asks the blog.
What, are we supposed to know?

Sega Putting Emphasis On Resonance Of Fate's Localization
Publisher has sought input from its western studios, aiming for a localization that can be understood "all over the world."
By Kat Bailey, 09/23/2009Like many large Japanese developers, tri-Ace and Sega are not blind to the shift in influence to the western market. As a result, they're putting a great deal of emphasis on the localization for the upcoming Resonance of Fate, which they hope will appeal to western audiences on the strength of its flashy visuals and unique gameplay.
"Although Sega didn't have much influence on how the game turned out, in terms of the voiceovers and the localization, we've actually been talking with our western offices about it for a while now because we thought that localization was quite essential for it to be successful in western markets," Sega producer Mitsuhiro Shimano told us during an interview at Tokyo Game Show. Tri-Ace director Takayuki Suguro also weighed in on his hopes for the western market, saying that he is aware that Japanese RPGs have become something a niche market in the west. He hopes that the gunplay and some of the newer elements will persuade new players to jump into the genre.
"What I want to get is across is that the gameplay is relatively traditional, even though it's much closer to a western game in how it appears. What we want to get across with this points is that JRPGs are kind of perceived as a niche market in especially America, and some European countries as well," Suguro said.
"So even though it's a JRPG and it does have a very traditional JRPG feel to it, it is very interesting. So we want to as many users as possible to pick it up and try these new elements and this new twist to the JRPG genre."
Resonance of Fate is slated for a Q4 release in Japan, with a spring release to follow in North America. Keep an eye out on 1UP.com for the full interview, which we will be posting soon.
