Forums - PC - Buy World of Goo, pay whatever you think it's worth!

Can you beat this?

Minimum

* CPU Windows XP/Vista, Pentium III 1.0 MHz
* Disk 100 MB
* RAM 512 MB
* VRAM 32 MB

I mean, the only problem I could see is the RAM, the other is kinda easy to get with any PC, specially from 2003

omg @ Ram...

To be honest, I really doubt it wouldn't run with 256MB.

Isn't there a demo you can DL?

I only paid $2.50, but in support of 2DBoy and this pay-what-you-want-model, I'm gonna buy the WiiWare version too when I get paid this thursday.

I did some maths, and for the week their (lowest) gross income from the sale is (by my maths) $114,221.18. Net income after average paypal fees of 13% were $99,372.43

The highest they could have made was $153,945.32 (gross) and $133,932.42 (net).

The average is $134,083.25 (gross) and $116,652.42 (net)

(once again, assuming all my math is correct)

I was most interested in the fact that Steam sales rose 40%.

I mean, this must be entirely due to the extra space the game got in all manner of gaming sites. There can be no other reason that I can see.

Advertisement does a lot.

@cgkc17 - $100k extra profits, that's AMAZING! Considering the game already paid for itself. + the extra steam profit (probably nowhere near the same amount).

This is invisible text!

@killergran - i know! i can see this as a viable alternative for indie game developers to realize (more) profit from their games.

Release them with the pay what you want model (but with say a minimum of $.50 or a dollar to ensure at least a little is made with each sale) to increase sales of the game and get it in more hands to increase buzz and hype (if its a quality title) that'll get others to buy it at retail or wiiware/psn/arcade.

Indeed. It's a nice way to do it.

The game sold almost 60k that week. That's a lot, by anyone's standards.
