David Cage: Sony Really Pays Attention to the Quality of a Game
Posted on October 13, 2009 by Shak

David Cage has gone on record to rubbish claims by "gamers" that Heavy Rain is only full of quick time events. He mentions that the only people saying this are those that have never played the game, and that the balance of QTE versus action in the game is exactly like Farenheit (Indigo Prophecy in the US). He explains that the game only goes into QTE during a cutscene sequence, and allows you to control the character at all times throughout these unique experiences.

Cage also commented on Sony saying that "they really pay attention to the quality of the game. That's the only thing that matters to them, and to us too...I think we are in good shape, we made the game we wanted to make."

Sony = Gaunteed top quality games constantly

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Indigo Prophecy was amazing. And if you have any doubts to how Heavy rain will play go pick up Indigo. It's breathtakingly amazing, with the action never getting stale. And QTE's only happening during cutscenes. Outside of that your always in control. One thing I didnt like about Indigo was the lack of face-button inputs but outside of that everything was amazing.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Either way, I think this is an either love it or hate it type of game. If you played and enjoyed Farenheit then you'll love this. I for one know I'm gonna greatly enjoy this. Sony seem to place a great value on story telling in games (God of War, Uncharted) and games as a form of emotional and artistic expression (Ico, Shadow of the Colossus).

It wasn't always so :)

This year, though, they're making it hard to disagree.

Good luck swaying the skeptics. While I will believe him since he is awesome just for making Heavy Rain, most people(fanboys) will still claim the game is full of QTEs.

i like that about sony.

almost all the products, especially the expensive ones much details and quality and features you won't find anywhere in the price range.

like the blu ray readers, 14-17 notebook battery life, 16.4' screens with the awesome xbrite.

and the same for games 20-40 million games each year.

X-Play said that it was mostly an action adventure game. It seems to kind of like a point and cilck adventure game(kind of). And the qtes are when the action heats up

But...but...the game is full of QTE's...lol :p
