The lack of Pokemon is depressing.

Well, we've been playing Mario and Metal Gear for 20 years.....I guess you guys want to keep playing Mario and Metal Gear for another 20 years.
I miss the times when it was accepted to bring on new innovative franchises when the older ones get tired. I guess those times have passed :(
Tho ill say i was disappointed in halo3; killing the halo franchise would be the dumbest thing done in video game history , as would killing MSG and Mario.

Valkyria Chronicles, Dead Space, Uncharted, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge, Viva Piñata, Little Big Planet; we have plenty of new franchises these days.
The point is few franchises can pass the test of time, games with Mario, Sonic, Snake or Link have empaty with the audience and can get sequels, remakes, compilations, etc. and still selling. Think about Double Dragon, Adventure Island, Blaster Master, Alex Kidd... those were quite big back in the day but now they're mostly forgotten because the audience has lost the interest on them.
The same'll pass this generation few franchises'll survive and keep selling.
I thought that the list was top 8 franchises that make money.
