In scientifical double blind tests, few people can tell the difference between high-quality MP3 and uncompressed audio.
I doubt 99% of the gamers would be able to tell the difference especially while listening to the games on their TVs, and while playing an action game. What this usage of uncompressed audio tells me is that they had nothing more important to put on the Blu-Ray disc, so they decided to fill it up with audio and tell everyone how MGS4 can only be done on the PS3.
Sure, uncompressed audio is nice to have, but is it worth the hefty price of Blu-Ray? I don't think so, and most gamers don't think so. As I said, most wouldn't be able to even tell the difference.
Seeing as MGS4 is supposed to showcase the very definition of a next-gen PS3 game, we can now see that the benefits of Blu-Ray are very likely not worth its enormous cost (both for Sony and for consumers). Law of diminishing returns anyone?
