I don't want to do something because you tell me to.  You have reached your own conclusions, and not sure what you expect people to tell you.  You up to being corrected here?  What do you want to be discussed?

Anyhow, the Playstation brand is pretty strong, the 360 did have RROD issues, and the price point was an issue.

By the way, I am curious what you think if the PS3 were priced at $200.  Would it blow away the Wii worldwide?

well let's just think about that.

at 200 bucks the ps3 would be one of the cheapest blu-ray players on the market.  that in and of itself would sell huge numbers.  secondly, the wii was being outsold by the ps3 last month even though the wii was 50 bucks cheaper.  now while this may be due to the reduction in demand in anticipation for a price cut, the truth is that the post price cut spike was nowhere near what it was for when the slim launched.  this tells me that the wii has already squeezed the majority of the juice out of the market.  i think the equilibrium point for the wii at 200 bucks will probably be somewhere in the range of where it is for the slim...even with a 100 dollar cost disparity.

so you tell me how it would do?  i think the numbers speak for themselves.

Is the 360 inferior or on par to the Wii, or is it markedly superior as far as raw horsepower goes, and media functionality?  Maybe one can argue it is because of RROD.  Beyond that though?  Well, the Wii outsold the 360.  The reasons?  I would have to say it had to do not only with the cheap price, but the fact that the Wii was based around motion control, and being accessible to the masses.  Where would having a same price point make a difference here, if the PS3 fails to have motion control and being easy to get into like the Wii is?

As far as being a cheap blu-ray player, that presumes there are masses that want blu-ray.  Last I checked, masses aren't lining up to get a player that requires buying new disks all over, and a shift to digital downloads is what is happening.  Even a Sony executive speculated the next Playstation may not even have a place to put in physical digital media.

my opinion of the wii is definitely not the majority view.  i think it's crap.  it's a ps2 era machine with a nifty gimmick.  i have one and i wish my wife would have never wanted it.  i'm an older gamer, though, and i realize that there are plenty of younger players out there who enjoy it.  but to answer your question i would say the 360 is superior.  i'm answering strictly in terms of what i would expect to get out of the machine games-wise.

from what i've read bluray is flourishing.  sure the next step might be more downloadable, but that is not to say that people are reticent to make the switch from dvd to bluray.

thread title sony v M$

didnt read much after that....

anyway according to sony the 360 was more expensive... so now its massively more expensive..

from now on my stock phrase will be "the 360 sells amazingly well considering its price" sound familiar?

ya

And unless you are a fool the 360 hasn't really had a price cut in over a year, its still $200 for the cheapest system and $300 for the primary system. All they did was slightly increase the value of the primary SKU. It will be nothing for them to drop the price when needed. I still forsee the 360 outselling the PS3 this holiday. I've heard a few rumors of some deals they will be offering with stores such as Best Buy, Wal-mart, and Target and if true will be quite a deal. (everybody likes free stuff)

Like I said many times Natal will do nothing for hardware sales (Same as the PS Wand or Sphere or whatever there calling it). The only thing Microsoft can do is cut the price by $100 on the Elite to have sales better then PS3, but then again it'll only be a matter of time till the PS3 cuts the price then it'll be the PS3 ahead again. The X360 had a year start, sales are going to start going downhill while PS3's continue to go up, it's only natural.

There's not much Microsoft can do. There dead in Japan and there's pretty much nothing they can do to save them (unless they some how get FFXIII, but that looks highly doughtful). There already dying (<--fixed) in Others and GT5 will be the nail in the coffin for that. The only region they have going for them is America, and as big as America is it won't be enough to save them.

first thing how do you know natal will do nothing to sales, i dont know neither does microsoft(they are expecting it to do good but they didnt sell it yet so how do they know) so how do you know. by the way xbox 360 is ahead by 1 mil in others so if ps keeps outselling xbox 360 by 50k they will need atleast 20 weeks but i dont think micrososft will let playstation outsell them in others or atleast they will try to.  ps its unlinkiley that ps3 will come in second this generation but its possible which i hope not.

Natal is an accessory, since when has an accessory saved a console, actually if history repeats itself then this will kill the X360 faster then ever. It'll do nothing for hardware sales, might help out software sales though. And you sir are forgetting that the next 20 weeks is the most important time of the year when it comes to sales, that 20 weeks can basically turn into 10 weeks because of the high holiday sales, by the end of December the PS3 will be ahead of the X360 in others.

I also don't see how it's unlikely that the PS3 won't come in second, seems kind of natural to me that it's going to happen?. The X360 has a year start, it already has a console at the big $199 price point, there really isn't anything other then Halo (and maybe Gears) that Microsoft has for the X360 while the PS3 has a huge list of big AAA exclusives. The PS3 has already out sold the X360 for the 2009 year, already! after being outsold by the X360 from pretty much every week of 2009.

So it seems very reasonable for the PS3 to outsell the X360.

@Kowenicki, sure the X360 has twice the amount of consoles sold in America, but like I said you can't ignore the rest of the world, I mean 300 million VS. 6.4 billion? you can't just rely on America (even though it is the biggest market), that's just suicide to stick to one region and ignoring the rest of the world. Other's always has higher weekly sales then America, and Japan is up there aswell.

@Seece, oh it's dying, it's hard to tell because the last couple weeks it had huge games realeases and the holidays is coming up so the numbers will obivously be high, so it's hard to tell now, but it's dying, I feel it in my bones :)

I think the 360 and the PS3 are both PS2 era machines with a nifty gimmick(LOL HD), with the Wii being the only true next-gen console yet. Sony will soon change that with the Sphere, and finally, Microsoft will enter this generation too, with the Natal.

And at least I have sales to back up my opinion, even from the same price range ($250 Wii beating $200 Arcade, LOL), to prove that.

360 is inferior to the PS3 that's just reality.

xbox fanboys were quick to champion xbox having double whatever processor power over PS2 now the tables have turned well do bad get over it.

The PS3 IS also cheaper when you factor in subscription for on year of Live and WiFi. Though to be fair you'd also have to add the headset to the PS3 to level the playing field.

thanks for confirming your fanboy, trolling status. you wont last long with threads like this and posts like the one above.

lol at "trolling".

<inigo mantoya>  "how come you keep say thees word?  i do not think it meansa what you think it means."

i love how whenever people voice an opinion contrary to the mainstream, accepted dogma they are labeled fanboys and trolls.  you know, heads are for more than holding your hats up.

for example, take god of war 2 vs madden 07 (or pretty much any launch title)

I guess it was quite foolish of me to expect a decent thread.  What I was expecting was something along the lines of "I think the console wars are tiring" or "The people that constantly argue about the console sales wars are annoying" but instead I got something along these lines "This is why I think MS fans are hypocrites"

Everybody is a hypocrite (yes even me), and everybody has double standards even if they aren't purposely trying to.

The console wars are stupid.
