I'm 25% Mexican, and 75% Swedish. What should I put on the SAT. My dad says put hispanic as an edge, but I feel wrong doing so, because it's minority in me. Does anyone know the legal stuff behind it?

Also, feel free to use this as to debate over if ethnicity should be an issue when admitting into colleges, as long as my question's answered.

Well, Hispanic certainly would be an edge. It also appears that you may claim to be Hispanic.

Because people perfer "ratioism" because it's a hell of a lot simpler then going through every single social factor.

Anyway... OT.  Yeah you could leagally put Hispanic.

If you feel bad about it though... don't do it.   A clear consious is worth more then a few extra points on the SAT.  It's pretty easy anyway.

It's funny just fairly recently i found out that my last name is actually from an ethnic minority.  Though one of people who are still white... but from the middle east.

So i'd have no clue what someone from my "ethnic group" would put.

On a side note to this topic. A few years ago my mates university (Aberystwyth) received an ultimatum from the government because they thought the percentage of white students was too high. They now have to Have a racial "Monitoring and target setting" program to achieve a higher percentage of minority students.

I mean Wales is 96% white British, of course the university will have a high percentage of white British students.

How insane is that?

yes, these actions are ridiculous. We have the same thing in the US and sadly companies hire their token black guy or woman just to fill the quota to keep the government happy. I seriously wonder if they did that at my company sometimes as we are an engineering company completely dominated by white males.

Surley the best person for the job should be picked over picking someone just to balance out the odds?
