Forums - Nintendo - Seems people care about the Wii price cut.

When was the price ever a problem? Though I think the news is still small. No one who doesn't have the inernett knows that there was a price cut....

That's just silly. Most people who buy consoles don't follow videogame news on the internet, yet Wii sales have increased enormously since the pricecut.

And I don't know what it's like in the rest of the world -I can't see it being much different- but here if you walk into any toy- or electronics store, there are signs, posters and all kinds of promotional material pointing out Wii has had a pricecut and is now 199 euros instead of 250. Well, in fact you don't even have to go into these stores, 'cos a lot of them have promotional material outside of the stores or behind their windows too.

Plus, catalogues, flyers and other kinds of printed promotion get delivered to a lot of people by mail, so, yeah. Nintendo doesn't have to do a lot of promotion themselves, since stores do it for them.

Totally agree you on one point; if Nintendo hadn't been so stupid to lead the holiday period with crap like Animal Crossing and Wii Music, the system wouldn't have lost this much steam, its sales wouldn't have dropped this much and such price-cut could have been postponed.

lol much? Animal Crossing is a 3 mil seller and Wii Music is a 2 mil seller. How many games can attest to this kind of success? You guys claim to be the voice of the mainstream but at the end of the day, you think just like the reviewers you're bashing

Can you actually compare these sales to SSBB, Mario Kart Wii or Mario Galaxy? And I never talked about the games' sales. I always get misunderstood :-/

The context of this thread made the comment look like it was about sales.

Wii console sales; not game sales as Pristine implied.

I have to disagree with you on this point. The Wii did not have a major release this year until Wii sports resort, in the west. Games are what drive sales of a console and one major release was not going to hold the Wii at the level it was selling.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

I'm laughing at the Invisible Walls guys myself.

Why? What did they say about this?

After the PS3 slim and price drop were officially announced, The Invisible Walls Sony douche basically went on a rant against the Wii and said that he hopes that every Wii owner will now pick up a "real" gaming system, aka the PS3.  But it wasn't just him... that Invisible Walls episode was basically a 30 minute PS3 infomercial... every commentator was having orgasms about the PS3 slim and Uncharted 2 lol!

Linkage please.

Skip to roughtly 14 mins into the video... that's when the 3 commentators, especially the dude with the accent, start sh!tting all over Nintendo and the Wii.  At 15 mins they even thrown in the typical "Wii iz teh D00M3D!!!" comment by pointing to the recent NPD report on the Wii's sales and saying that it's literally game over for Nintendo!

Edit:  @ 16:35, both commentators literally say that Nintendo and the Wii are DOOOOOOOOMED!!!!!

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I wonder how many EAD employees will mysteriously die in car crashes and so forth in the next few years following the debacle that was the Wii holiday of 2008.

Okay, that is crossing a line. It's not just unfunny, it's mocking Yokoi's legacy.
