The Review system isn't broken, because there isn't any "Review system". Videogames as films are creative works, not mathematical formulas with a precise way to measure the characteristics of every game.

I think most people don't really care about "inconsistency"... Heck, 9.3 for Uncharted 2 isn't "inconsistent" whatsoever.

what people are mad about is "Biased" reviews that seem to target certain console and judge it more harshly.

Heck, I don't remember Gametrailer making comments about how Gears of War 2 or Forza 3 isn't "revolutionary". Those kind of comments piss more people off than the review itself

The review system is fine and GTAIV scores were well deserved.

Who cares, as long as great games get great scores, what does it matter? It's not as if those 10ths of points are gonna make a game sell much less anyway. Who cares if great game A gets .2 points more than great game B? People need to stop being so overly sensitive when it comes to their games and consoles of choice.

Reviews are just personal opinions anyway, meant to convey whether a game is worth purchasing or not, they're not be-all end-all verdicts by God or something. Come on.

You are wrong. GTA San Andreas is the best GTA because you can do almost anything in it and you know why? Because it was the last GTA for the ps2( not counting the psp spinoffs).

GTA IV on the other hand is the first GTA for the HD consoles, so they didn't give you every option available in San Andreas because if they do that, there will be nothing left to do. Im sure they can make a GTA game better than San Andreas now but they might wait till the consoles are at the end of their times. Or even wait till the next gen.

Pft... 7-10 scale. Man, get with the times! We're up to the 9-10 scale. Where 9.1 is an injustice to humanity and 10 is just plain expected.

I agree. The review system is broken. PS3 exclusives always gets too low a score.
91 is clearly too low a metacritic score for Killzone 2.
Metal Gear deserves way higher than 94.
87 for Resistance 2 is abysmal!

And Grand Theft Auto, a MULTIPLATFORM GAME gets a Metacritic score of 98??? Insane! It's even more than uncharted's 97!

You look at the metacritic for an overall view then read the reviews from people you agree with the most often. As others have said, you'd have to take out the human element to get completely non-biased reviews and consistent ones. The entire point of having multiple reviews is to reach out to more people because people have differing opinions. It's shocking but some people don't like the Wii, and some hate the 360 and PS3 and all these people need reviewers for them, even if it seems biased. Why shouldn't PS3 haters have a reviewer for them?

It's come to the point where people are obessed with the number any certain reviewer attaches to a game, sad really. You shouldn't be bothered about this .. nobody should ..

Reviews are there for you to read, get an idea on how the game plays, what it's about ect, not to give you a stiffy if your favourite game scores a 10 or a paddy attack if it doesn't.
