The numbers you posted don't mean much if you don't have DS numbers to compare with. As it is now, we don't know if DS games are in 50K or 500K range. Also, people can easily download DS ROMs directly without BT since they are usually much smaller games.

On the same thread on Neogaf, people also pointed out piracy is pretty bad for PS1, PS2, XBox and even Wii. However, I hardly see anyone use that as a reason for bad game sales.

So windows number 1 pirated system no surprise. Then PSP. 2 positions later is the DS but the PSP already lapped it 4 times already.

A little bit offtopic, but it's funny how the same damn argument could be used to prove opposing statements ^_^ Here's a couple of stereotypic logical chains:

a) PSP is more hardcore than DS => hardcore = computer nerds who know how to pirate games, casuals don't, 'cos they're computer retarded people => DS sells more software per unit than PSP

b) X360 is more hardcore than Wii  => hardcore = more dedicated crowd to games, than casuals, hardcore people buy more software => X360 sells more software per unit than Wii

In truth, sometimes when you're trying to simplify some relatively complex matter thus helping yourself or others to understand it, you may oversimplify it, thus completely missing the point. That's exactly the case, when you're overusing "casuals vs hardcore" dichotomy. It may be helpful to understand how things work, but usually it just prevents from understanding things properly, as close to the real deal as possible. I won't bother with details, but if you ever will be interested in understanding how gaming industry works, you need to work out proper terminology base first.

 

I am not good at explaining and I won't bother putting a lot of effort in explaining just to win an argument.

It's pretty simple to know which handhelds has more casual just by looking at the charts.

Your entiled to your opinion my friend, but if you check the charts, you will notice that not one GT game has sold less than 10 million.  The GT series is exclusive to Sony so if you want to play it you only have one choice and that is a Sony system.  Now GTportable is harder to figure because well it just released and remember GT games are known for having 'wonderful' legs-so I would guess that maybe it will be the  only full game that will not sell 10 million.  But GT5 is going to do 10 million in my opinion.

Not one gt game has sold below 10 mill, on the ps2. Gt5 prologue is at 3 million. Ps3 has less than a third the ps2 userbase. Its just not going to happen.

The difference between MGS and GTA is huge.

MGS3 - 4M [according to this site... I believe it's over 4.5]
GTA:SA - 18M

Now explain these to me:

GTAIV [PS3]: 5.9M
MGS4: 4.3M

MGS4 was exclusive and sold on par with previous games. 
GTAIV on both platforms rolled in 13.3M sales already and is showing great legs. The reason SA has it's amazing sales is because of the great sales over time. Both versions of GTAIV are showing great performance combined compared to SA. MGS4 on PS3 is showing great performance compared to MGS3. A game that was released during the PS2's prime AND during November for US and EU [holiday season]. Explain??? Multiplatform.

I don't have US here because there were no numbers for GT4p US. However, looking at this... I would say the GT franchise is stronger than ever. Why the "Weak" psp sales??? First PSP GT. Considered by critics to be a poor game. Huge download numbers on piracy sites.

You didnt answer. My previous post was totally accurate, Nintendo is owning the whole top 20 and own 18 spots on the top 20 (and soon the entire top 20) best selling game. I really don't get why would we put away the bundled games unless you're a extremely Sony biased person....oh wait!
