Sigh, why does a thread about a PSP game gets attacked so much? Do people really thought that a Portable PSP experience would sell as the full console release? Even one of the biggest console franchises, Mario, do poorly on portable consoles.

The best selling mario game sold more than 40M, but it's portable iteration on the GBA, only sold 2.25M and it's first week was 70K in japan only, so in a sense the first GT on a portable console sold even better than it, Japan only. When you put into persepective that the GBA was the second portable console for nintendo and the PSP is the first sony portable console, those numbers have some real expression.

You took a 20 years old port of the first SMB as example which is really bad to prove your point. You should instead talk about NSMB sales which did more than 1.2 million first week and the game will soon reach the 20 million mark. I don't think you can qualifies those sales ''poor''.

Yes because I wanted to use SML since it was the first SMB game to be released on a portable console, but i couldn't find the data.

My point was to compare a first generation portable nintendo handheld to the first generation portable sony handheld, so even though I couldn't find, I used a second generation, which is stlll giving the upper hand to nintendo.

I couldn't give a damn about the sales of both games, to me, Mario and GT are of equal quality in their own genres, but the comparisons you are offering are simply ridiculous. You're only using the best selling nintendo consoles, what about the n64, what about the gamecube, you're forgetting those? Nintendo is the dominant manufacturer this generation, whether it's handheld or home console, and will be till the end of this generation, but it wasn't like this in the past two gens, and Sony did what no other manufacturer has ever done on the handheld terrain, to actually give a proper competition to nintendo.
