Forums - Sales - Best selling franchises of the 7th generation

I thought this would be an interesting list.

About how this is counted. It is essentially counted if the game has the name of the franchise in it. Mario & Sonic at the olympic games counts for both Mario and Sonic. Mario Kart Wii does, however, only count for Mario Kart, not the "Wii Series".  This list IS incomplete, no doubt about it. Any corrections/additions are appreciated.

1. Mario - 105.78 million (17 games)

2. "Wii Series" - 102.47 million (6 games)

3. Pokemon - 42.92 million (11 games)

4. Brain age - 31.91 million (2 games)

5. Guitar Hero - 29.27 million (22 games)

6. Call of Duty - 28.09 million (11 games)

7. Sonic - 24.18 million (19 games)

8. "Lego" - 24 million (22 games)

9. Grand Theft Auto - 22.43 million (4 games)

10. Nintendogs - 22.27 million (1 game)

11. Madden - 19.95 million (24 games)

12. Need For Speed - 18.9 million (19 games)

13. Fifa - 16.06 million (25 games)

14. Imagine: 15.23 million (23 games)

15. Animal Crossing - 14.38 million (2 games)

16. Halo - 14.26 milllion (3 games)

17. The Legend of Zelda - 13.87 million (3 games)

18. "Sims" - 13.73 million (18 games)

19. Final Fantasy - 12.25 million (18 games)

20. Gears of War - 11.15 million (2 games)

21. Rock Band - 10.1 million (23 games)

Haven't sold 10 million, but I checked they're numbers, so they're here:

Dragon Quest - 9.49 million (6 games)

 Assassin's Creed - 8.23 million (3 games)

Metal Gear Solid - 5.86 million (4 games)

I coloured the ones that have a definitive main-platform. The rest are left uncoloured.

Edit nr 1: Changed the GTA total. Thank you Yakuzaice

Love the thread Pineapple! I'll definitely be bookmarking (or hopefully it's stickied ) this and keeping track of it throughout the months.

It'll be a lot of work, but I hope you can keep it up.

On another note... Sonic at #7 with Winter Olympics about to come out. Oh yeah.

Nice job, interesting thread. I just checked the sales for Monster Hunter, and it is currently at 8.87 million after 5 games, not passed the 10 million mark yet, but if you are planning on expanding the list it will probably make it. Also, it may just be and my computer, but the shade of green for the Xbox titles is nearly impossible to read. If it was a little darker it would help a lot. But it again may just be me. Also, are you counting PS2 titles if the game was released after the 7th generation consoles released?

You forgot Vice City Stories in the GTA total.  I'm also coming up with 30.09 for Call of Duty, but the same number of games.  Let me double check.

This is the list as it was as of the start of the thread (10th September, apparently)

1. Mario - 105.78 million (17 games)

2. "Wii Series" - 102.47 million (6 games)

3. Pokemon - 42.92 million (11 games)

4. Brain age - 31.91 million (2 games)

6. Call of Duty - 28.09 million (11 games)

7. Sonic - 24.18 million (19 games)

8. "Lego" - 24 million (22 games)

Not getting the list tbh

Oh, I thought it was simple enough to warrant having no explanation.

Here's the deal

It goes

Place - franchise name - number of copies sold - number of games

1 - Mario - 105.50 million - 17 games in the franchise

They're the sales from 7th generation machines (DS, Wii, PsP, X360 and Ps3).

Call of Duty will go up 2 places, could pass Pokemon.

Holy shit, didn't know the Lego games sold that much o.O

how in the world has imagine sold so many titles?
