That's hardly the point. As Christians it is accepted that, if what Christ says is law, then the Old Testament is still law too. We just break that law. Constantly.

In an absolutely shocking contradiction, some of the Old Testament laws got thrown out as well. For example, the dietary restrictionwas lifted as what goes into the body does not matter. There are a few others as well, but I am too lazy to list them or look them up.

This does not particularly surprise me (which is to say it surprises me not at all) but I'd love to know which passages you refer to... at some point.

Matthew 15:11 is the specfic line 'Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”' It doesn't make a lot of sense with the King James translation, but when you read all of Matthew 15 it becomes pretty clear. The entire chapter has to deal with dis-obeying the Jesus' followers dis-obeying the dietary laws. There are further implications of course, but that is something for a religious debate topic specifically.

Edit: Stupid online bible. Found a better quote. Matthew 15:16-19 '16 So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

Well this is a topic about a joke account getting unbanned. I think this is about as free as topics could possibly get.

Fair enough I suppose. I just get carried away with debates about religion. I need to sit down a read the bible again though. It has been too long, and I have forgotten too many of the passages I like to quote to prove my various points.

I've never actually read the whole thing, come to think. I will, though, soon enough - I think I'd like to pick up a copy of the Oxford Annotated, but that thing is expensive.

It is well worth it honestly. That is the version I have and it is great. The foot notes are often hilarious for unintended reasons. It also include the Aprocrypha which is essential to understanding the whole text in my opinion. Just make sure to skim through Leviticus and Numbers. Painful doesn't describe what it is like to read those.

Quick what's your favorite Old Testament book.

And don't say Judges, everybody loves Judge.

It's like they took all the cool mythology parts of the Bible ad crammed them into one section...

Not Judges certainly. It kind of bored me honestly. I really liked the Samuel and Kings books. Technically they were all one at one point, but I guess that is kind of cheating. I am going to go with Samuel 2.

People actually think that the Bible is entertaining?
