Forums - Sony - Ratchet and Clank - how will it sell?

Ratchet and Clank is about to be launched - seems that some stores will be selling it from the 23rd. This seems to be PS3's next important title, so its success should matter a lot to PS3's performance in this holiday season.

How well do you think it can sell in the first few weeks, and do you see it having long legs?

If the reviews stay above 90% it should do well though I am concern it may actually flop. My cousin has decided to not buy after playing the demo though mainly because he just doesn't have money or time to play it when he also has a Wii and 360. There is just alot of competition this holiday. Mario would be around the corner so if you had a PS3 and Wii would you wait for mario, buy ratchet or get both? Tough decisions coming up for gamers.

Good question, the price drop and the 40 gig should help sales i think.

I'd say no more than 1 million by the end of year if its good. Buy I'm gonna stick with my prediction in my sig.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY

I was initially skeptical with sales of Lair, Warhawk, and Heavenly Sword all falling way short of expectations, but I think the combination of good reviews and holiday sales being as crazy as they are will take it just over a million.

There's some temptation for me to hope it'll do badly and go multi-plat, but no need to suddenly get as nasty as that. =P

Though Sony's faithful are familiar with this game and it has been reviewed highly in the past, I think that Ratchet falls into more of a niche market. I loved "up your arsenal" because it moved a little away from platforming and adding more first and third person elements. From the videos, the new game looks graphically impressive but I can't help but look at it and think that they have returned to their roots and "increased" the platformer components of the game. This may appeal to a broader audience than Up Your Arsenal did. For me, it's the exact opposite, though, because I hate 3D platformers. As much as this series and it's developers deserve it, I don't think it is going to sell extremely well early on. I'd be surprised if it beats out the performance of Heavenly Sword. As far as legs are concerned, I think it will have longer legs than some other titles because it is a rather unique game. Just my .02 of course.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

I hope it does well. I love the R&C games, it would totally blow if this one flopped. It would also be a serious shame, because even the demo rocked.

R&C 1 - 2.93 million
R&C 2 - 2.42 million
R&C 3 - 2.17 million

Prediction
R&C PS3 - 650,000 by Dec 31. 1 million lifetime

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

It will probably do over 200k first week , and maybe even pass the 1000k untill the end of the year ... if HS has a chance to hit the 500k , than R&C has the chance to hit double . This game has great sales in the EU to , and pretty good in Japan :)

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

I think it will sell extremly well coupled with the PS3 price drop.
