I see you didn't answer the question.
What are Sony's expectations for the Go?

How can it be the inferior PSP? The main problem of the PSP was the size as a portable multimedia device. Its like everyone is seeing the PSPgo only as a gaming platform, which is definetly not.
Some folks have a lot of trouble realizing that, for some (I would argue "many"), the PSP Go is superior, not inferior, to the PSP-3000.
That was kinda the point, wasn't it? Different folks, different points of view, products for everyone (or at least more people).
Sony makes about a zillion kinds of stereo, boombox, MP3 player, etc. When they release a new model, do people go on and on about how it didn't burn up the isles with people running through the store to get one? No.
Is it smart business? Yes.
Heres the closing comment of the IGN 8.5 review of the Zune: "As for the unit itself, the Zune HD is competitively priced at $219 for the 16GB variation and $289 for the 32GB variation, which, compared to the iPod touch's 8GBs for $199 and 32GBs for $299, gives users more bang for their buck. "
How can media and people say its competitively priced while the PSPgo 16 gb at 249$ is ripping people off??? It does around all the same function (a bit more actually), is only a bit bigger because the screen is a lot bigger, and it plays all PSP games, I say WTF people and media!!!
...Zune was only use as example.

Your right, people that just wanna play game and doesnt have a lot of cash or dont like downloading stuff will get the PSP 3000. But the other persons that dont mind downloading and want to use PSP not only for gaming but for MP3, movie playing, skype etc, will definitly prefer the PSPgo. I myself find that the fact you can connect a PS3 controller to it is awesome, any person that played an RPG on PSP at home will understand what I mean.
PGP Go rules. It replaces practically every portable device I care to own, and doesn't require the bag the older PSPs did.
Pretty simple. It kicks the hindquarters of the original PSP models, iPod, and DSi all the way to the next dimension -- for me. And a lot of other people (doubling WW sales is.. significant for a side-grade device, whether you want to believe it or not) too.
In the next few weeks, we'll see if Sony accomplished the goal of expanding their audience (which I believe was the intent) or not. Then we'll "know" if its a success or not.
The goal was NOT pleasing existing PSP owners, nor was it smashing sales records. Did the PSP-3000 have such a launch boost? Maybe the PSP-2000 did, since it was the first slim model?
Sony's expectations weren't too high then.....

I also think they want to expand their audience to non gamer as well, since its well price if you compare it to other uber portable multimedia device. I think the most important thing for sony representative will be to give formation to employee working in electronic store (future shop, best buy, wal mart etc) to inform customers about PSPgo even if they are not looking for a gaming device.
If it flops it will because of the stupidly uncompetitive price point. Digital Distribution should not necessarily hold it back.
If SONY can stop piracy on the device then the DD revenues will be amazing.
