Why is there a need to justify the Hate for any particular game? Has the game ever do any wrong to you? As it hurt you in any particular way?

Seriously I just don't get why people go out of their way to bash FFXII, it's like a thorn they have stuck on their back and that they must scream in agony for it. You don't like the game, fine, even though is one of the best Final Fantasies of all time, for it's political theme, for the deep feuds between some characters, hell, even Vaan has some significance to the overall story.

I think people nowadays are spoiled with easy-to-follow stories that don't require any input and any thought from the player part, and spoon feed you every detail of the story. FFXII is like reading John's Milton Paradise Lost, it has so much significance and so much meaning behind the words and the religious theme, that most common men will falter at any attempt to understand it, but that doesn't give them the justice to hate it.

Anyway, I think this is one of the saddest themes for a thread i've seen here in VGChartz, as a Final Fantasy fan from the NES days.

FFX has a very though provoking story and FFVII was not what I call easy to follow.

You're right, they weren't easy stories per se, but the premises of both FFX (The spiral of Death - Spira; Sin; The Fayth's Dream; The Summoners; The Final Aeon and even Seymour's twisted oedipus complux and eventual patricide due to superiority issues were blatanly explained in most of the final dialogues of the game) and FFVII (The Cetra, the plague of the ancients JENOVA, Sephiroth's massive Oedipus Complex which seems like a recurrent theme in both these games, Shin-Ra's rise to power due to the use of the power of the planet, The black materia being the collective consciousness of the Ancients, and many more, were also well explained in the plot).

FFXII goes deeper than that, it scrapes at the most hidden and sinister behaviours of human interactions like betrayal, treason, despotism, auto-theocracism, fratricide and puts them in contrast to the most noble human actions, abegnation, self-sacrifice, struggle for freedom and others. If you look well enough at the history of FFXII, you'll see that it's like a game of chess being played, and the world of ivalice it's the board, Arcadia the black pieces, Rozaria the white, Dalmasca the pawn that's being tossed aside from each side and Ondore is the wild card in all this equation, playing the final part as a queen would do on a chess game.

I found the story boring.
After a while, I was just walking and reading. Gambits pretty much took care of the fighting.
Characters... uhhh.... yea..... well... I remember their names atleast....
Presentation was good... I guess...

Overall... didn't like the game much........

May I ask you a question? Why did you leave the fight to the gambits setup? The game was so much fun and exciting without any gambit setup, especially the Nabreus Deadlands, the Henne Mines and Lhusu Mines Site 11.

This thread is making me want to go back to Final Fantasy XII!
