The only company this news is going to bother is MS.

Wait till WF+, colours and NSMBW hits.

WF+ has already been released...

It was pretty obvious WF+ wasn't going to effect sales at all.

I was just about to suggest that you should read some of ioi's posts.  ioi says price cuts move hardware.

  Did you read what he said, he said that it was the slim, not the price cut that resulted in the large sales

The massive PS3 spike was DUE TO THE PS3 SLIM MODEL, not purely from a PRICE CUT. If PS3 had just had the price reduced it would have done more like 65k - 55k - 50k - 45k - 35k or whatever. OVER HALF of the intital spike was from people buying the new model.

So yeah the Idea that price cuts drive sales is not supported, first off PS3 sales had dropped off for weeks in Japan

from the low 20K's to the low thousands, so if it had been only a price cut, most of those sales would have just been people who would have bought it anyways, thy just decided to hold off until the price cut

Didn't work with WSR.

Won't work with WF+. It may seem like it would work, but it would be foolish to call WF+ the responsible for the Holiday boost. That theory has been already debunked. Plus in 8 weeks NSMBWii will be released.

Wii sales trippled, thats good, PS3 sales were 100 times as big after the price cut (In Japan) and PS3 slim sells more in its 4th (or 5th) week then the 1st week after a Wii Price cut

Looking at software, the PS3 should have a good October, while Wii releases are thin on the ground.

November sees potential big hitters from both sides, so should be a good scrap.

subjective opinion. You say its WSR, i say its the PS3 price cut.

Its still in the top 10, not nearly as strong as WF but you cannot simply state that when evidence has not been concluded yet. Remember Europe is the only country where bundling is the option taken.

I heard the price cut was only twenty bucks or something there... I'm guessing the hardware increased due to Wii Fit Plus and not the price cut, since 20 dollars really isn't much.

(I'm not 100% positive on the 20 dollars thing but if I remember correctly the Japan price drop was equivalent to a 20 dollar US price drop)
