Forums - Sony - Resistance 2 or killzone 2

If you've played RFOM, you'll want to cry if you play Resistance 2. They threw away everything with any potential or innovation and the sequel was just left as a barren, bog-standard FPS that didn't do anything particularly well.

Go with KZ2. Assuming, of course, you own CoD4, which is IMO the best FPS of this gen.

Resistance 2 is by far the more fun game.

I think Im going to squeeze in my budget and get both:)

You're probably going to regret it, but if you've made up your mind, there's nothing I can do.

I just hope you'll be part of the small but vocal minority who actually like Resistance 2.

If you like Resistance then (probably) you'll find the SP/Coop in R2 more fun than the SP in KZ2. However KZ2 overall MP is better I think and of course it does look lovely.

In your shoes I'd probably go R2, continue the story, then look to KZ2.

One word of caution on my advice, though. R2 does change a fair bit from Resistance, with 2 gun limit, CoD style self healing, etc. I know quite a few Resistance fans who didn't like the changes.

Heck, I don't think I've been any help at all, really - that sound contradictory! Oh, well. Let me put it another way, I doubt you'd regret either so whichever way you go you should be happy.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Resistance 2 have more magic. The atmosphere, the story, gameplay, i love R2.

I don't know, you can't really go wrong since they're both bad choices.

On one hand, you have Resistance 2. R:FoM wasn't a bad game and had a lot of great throwbacks to classic FPS games that made it worthwhile and even had that cool narrator. Insomniac, hating fun as they do, decided to take the good parts of R:FoM out and replace them with even more bland boring mechanics. If you liked R:FoM, this isn't the game for you.

On the other hand, you have Killzone 2, the biggest baddest in your face shooter ever. The atmosphere is *incredible* but then you actually start playing the game and it just isn't good. I could lie to you, but it's even less inspired gameplay wise than Resistance 2, frustrating at points, and has some of the worst boss fights ever created.

If you want a shooter, get CoD4 (of MW2 in a few weeks) or any one of the better shooters out there if you already haven't. If you must pick between those two, I would say Killzone 2 is the smallest loss.

I'd say go with resistance 2

I'm not into shooters myself but I got convinced to get the killzone 2 platinum since I got it cheap, the graphics are amazing and there's nothing wrong with the gameplay but other than graphics it's very average IMO and the campaign was as short as the usual fps.

I'd go with R2, KZ2 was just same ole gameplay, though the environment was impressive.
R2 has the weapons and enemies to make it that more interesting.

I don't see how you can call KZ2 derivative and then in the same sentence imply that R2 is not.

R2 is WAY more derivative than KZ2, which is especially disappointing since RFOM is one of the most original FPS on the market.

I liked Resistance 2's singleplayer more, the online coop was very addicting too.
