Forums - Nintendo - i didnt like metroid prime trilogy

I find that quite a bit of people couldnt get into the game. I think the Prime subseries is the best series to be released in the last 10 years, however, the very purpose of a Metroid game is a nonlinear exploration based game. You do what you want to, how you want to, and when. For a lot of people it could be too much thinking. Id say that most that dont like the games simply dont want, or cant cope with the mental challenge.

Of course, some people simply dont like the slower pace of the Metroid series (excluding Corruption).

Too bad, ABC thinks its the Citizen Kane of gaming.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Metroid prime is the perfect game. All other opinions are wrong.

Thats a very friendly way of calling most who doesn't like Prime morons. I totally disagree. Some of us just prefer a more linear experience. I hardly mock open world gamers for all the wasted time they spend bumbling around the sandbox. Point is, its a matter of taste not some kind of mental superiority.

Well you might be wrong there, ABC News just compared it to Citizen Kane.

Im not lying, go have a look.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Yeah agreed =/

How is walking the same path back and forwards too much thinking anyway? It's like a book making you read pages 1 and 2, but making you skip page 3, read page 4 and 5, then read page 5 and 4 again to get back to page 3. I just find it a bit annoying more than anything else. I'm not bashing the Prime series but I prefer a more linear experience just because it's more enjoyable. To be fair I've really enjoyed playing through Prime 1, but it would've been better with more linearity.

I don't like metroid either, it's just that the storyline and characters aren't interesting enough to grab my attention.

But you can see why it's considered such a great game, right? I didn't like COD4 but I can see recognize what all the fuss was about.
