In an interview with CNBC, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has said that Walmart is Nintendo's best customer.

I find this interesting as it probably means Best Buy / Game Stop are the best customers for Microsoft and Sony given the different clientele the stores and products appeal to

I'm sorry, but wasn't this sort of a given?

I mean the impression I get from American's, stock reports and pop culture is that Walmart is kind of a big deal...

The Nintendo section has really grown at the Walmart. It used to be a tiny section in the back. Now it's half the video game area in the front, plus a wide variety of accessories.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

I'm surprised this woman said the Wii costs 299 now.

I guess it's cool that Reggie didn't correct her?

Doesn't someone not track Walmart?

When did this happened?

The major USA retailers, if you were to group by similarity are in the following categories:

Massive General Stores (A):

Walmart

Target

Local chains

Electronics (B):

Best Buy

Fry's and a bunch of little others

Dedicated Game Stores (C):

Game Stop/ EB Games

Game Crazy

Toy Stores (D):

Toys R US/Kids R US

Video Stores (E):

Blockbuster

Online (F):

Amazon

Circuit City and KB Toys don't really sell games anymore. There are also alot of independent stores, particularly in cities in the west.

I would guess groups A & D are strongest for Nintendo. B is probably best for Sony followed by A, C is probably best for Microsoft followed by B.

As much as I hate Wal Mart, it does make sense, it's incredibly popular in the US.

Source, would that fact make accurate tracking for Nintendo more difficult, since the A groups don't usually give out software numbers (to my understanding)?
