Forums - Gaming - Why Do PS3 owners not buy exclusives

@Twesterm: To be specific, all the three games mentioned would be games "for wrong audience" on any platform.

Eh, you could make the argument that LBP might have a better place on the 360 instead of the PS3 since it had Viva Pinata but ultimately such a casual game like LBP with that kind of art style would have done by far the best on the Wii.

As for No More Heroes and Madworld, while I love playing them on the Wii, I would be willing to bet the majority of the people that bought those also had a PS3 and/or a 360 and there were a good number of PS3/360 owners that would have loved to play it but didn't have a Wii.

@Twesterm: And i would bet there were a number of Wii owners who bought it as an impulse buy. I mean, the boxart has a lightsaber in it.
If you didn't notice, i just used the same logic as you did with LBP.

I'm not arguing here that the games wouldn't sell better at all on some other platform, just that the difference wouldn't be meaningful.

Some of the best exclusives have been released on the PS3. I myself am a ps3 owner and remember my fellow ps3 owners always complaining about the lack of exclusives for the ps3. Now, many brilliant exclusives have been released such as Killzone 2 and metal gear solid 4 but ps3 owners do not buy. If MGS 4 had been an exclusive on the xbox it would have sold 10 million. Look at HALO ODST.

If I was a developer, I would stop making exclusives for the ps3 and make exclusives for the xbox whose owners are a lot more loyal to exclusives.

Please can all my fellow ps3 owners tell me why this is?

Okay 360 has 8 exclusives that have sold over 2 million and PS3 has 6, soon to be a lot more with GT5, GoW3, UC2, and more. Not much difference for a 7.5 million install base difference.

And I highly disagree that MGS4 would have sold 10 million if exclusive to the 360. The only game that has made 10 million is Halo 3 and that is the most hyped game this gen, if not in history.

Not too mention Halo 3 had the biggest budget available 50-150 million.

I think Sony should create more boards asking PS3 gamers or general pop "in general" what they want. And then we'd end up with 10 mill seller

"Rainbird: Why don't Nintendo and Microsoft Copy the Sony Blog?

Bagenome:You can't shoot things on a blog, and babies can't read, so I don't think it would suit either one's target audience."

Honestly, do JRPG makers even realize how hard it is to save the world? That shit is impossible!

Well... when Metal gear solid 4 was released there was about 12 million playstation 3's worldwide. MGS4 sold 1.7 mil units its first week, in its first month it sold about 3 million copies. Considering there were only 12 mil PS3s worldwide thats actually very good bro. In june 08 xbox 360 worlwide numbers were 19 mill so if the game would have came out on the 360 it would have sold more because...its simple there are more 360 owners than ps3 ,NOT BECAUSE PS3 OWNERS DONT BUY EXCLUSIVES LOL. And as for Killzone 2 not all PS3 owner are FPS fanboys, So I knew it wasnt gona sell 4-6 million copies, even though its still selling pretty good. (IF PS3 CAME OUT IN 2005 AND XBOX 360 CAME OUT IN 2006, YOUR TITLE WOULD HAVE BEEN "WHY DO XBOX360 OWNERS NOT BUY ANY EXCLUSIVES")
So there you go, thats why a system with 32.26 mill users sells more games than one with 24.79.

I expect by the end of 2010:

Over 5 mln. Metal Gear Solid 4
Over 5 mln. Gran Turismo 5
Over 3 mln. Uncharted
Over 3 mln. LittleBigPlanet
Over 3 mln. Killzone 2
Over 3 mln. Uncharted 2
Over 3 mln. AGENT
Over 2 mln. Resistance 2
Over 2 mln. InFAMOUS
Over 2 mln. God of War 3
Over 2 mln. Ratchet:ToD
Over 2 mln. Ratchet:CiT
Over 1 mln. MAG
Over 1 mln. MotorStorm: Pacific Rift
Over 1 mln. Valkyria Chronicles
Over 1 mln. White Knight Chronicles
Over 1 mln. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm

I dunno about others but for me personally, alot of ps3 exclusives just don't keep me hooked long enough. MGS4 is my only exclusive that I've had no regrets about. KZ2 was definitely my most hyped game, but dissapointed the shit out of me (I can't stress this enough, I was so excited about it =/ ).

CoD5 has been hogging up all my online play and with MW2 just a month away, I'm not even sure if I'll be playing Uncharted 2 for long (assuming I get it).

There's a few other exclusives that I'd wanna buy but they don't really seem worth the price.

well that depends, PS3 demographic it's more varied.
ps3 sell decent on all regions.

360 does great america, decent europe, and sells nothing in japan-

FPS and NFL sell great in america main 360 exclusives are FPS so they sell great.

ps3 it's different. while FPS do decent, cars and fifa do great, platformers decent

banjo sold nothing 360, but LBP sold decent ps3.
and so on.

I died laughing when MGS4 was called a NICHE game...
