Forums - Nintendo - The Warren Spector Mickey Game Prediction Thread

I'm not calling it "Epic Mickey" because I have no reason to believe that that's the actual title of the project. If that does end up being the title, fine, but I'm not going to call it that just yet.

So, anyway. Introduction time.

Warren Spector Mickey Game!?

Yes indeedy. If you've been living under a rock for the past fw days, this is the scoop: Warren Spector is heading a project for Disney, a project that involves a very different take on the Disney mythos than we are used to. At the time of this writing there are no details on the project, but there are things that we can assume, like it probably being awesome.

All right, so what's the big deal?

The big deal is this:

1. This is a Warren Spector game leveraging one of the most powerful entertainment licenses in the world. It's kind of like Kingdom Hearts only without the Square-Enix and with one of gaming's greatest geniuses being the guy behind the project.

2. This is the first AAA Western-developed Wii exclusive that I'm aware of. This is a top-tier team working with an absurdly powerful brand to make what is hoped to be one of the best games on the platform.

3. Mickey Mouse is awesome.

All right, then what's the topic about?

This topic is here so people can make predictions about the project colloquially known as "Epic Mickey". I will be putting a link to this topic in my sig and check up on it periodically so we can keep track of exactly what people were predicting about this game.

Here are some questions you can answer in your predictions:

1. What will the review scores on this game be like? What do you expect as the Metacritic average, based on what you know at the time of your prediction?

2. What will sales for the game be like in the first week?

3. What will sales for the game be like in the first month?

4. What will sales for the game be like lifetime?

5. How will gamers respond to this game when they have played it?

Lay down your predictions, people! I want to know what you think this game is going to turn out like, and what kind of success it will be!

Around the Network

I'd say that this thread is a little premature. Very little is known about it other than its pedigree, its exclusivity and some concept art. There's little talk of gameplay (apparently it uses the pointer to paint, but we don't even know if it's 2D or 3D yet), and no release date named yet.

Given the powerful IP, and assuming quality production values, it should be able to clear a million sales handily, but I'm not going to try any more specific predictions at this point. My predictions suck enough as it is when there's lots of information out.

I intend to keep the topic going for a long time - people can actually make multiple predictions as they learn more and more, and then see at what point they came closest to the truth!

It's premature, but that's intentional, is what I mean.

True, this game may be the first "big budget" exclusive western game for Wii...

Only Red Steel and Red Steel 2 could also be in that category so far, all the other best Wii efforts came from Japan... even if De Blob or Boom Blox were kinda cool, too... but not 90+ games on Metacritic, by example...

And i don't even mention the first Red Steel: the budget was there, but not the result... the second one may be better, though...

But for "Epic Mickey", with what i've seen so far, i'm kinda optimist...

1) between 85 and 95 on Metacritic

2) 500k first week

3) 1 million after a month

4) 3 million after a year, 4 million lifetime

5) If this is as good as we may hope, and is finally a creative answer to the talent of Miyamoto-san, a game just as good as the best 1st party Nintendo titles, the Wii gamers should be very happy to have this one in their collection...

Let's wait and see, and hope for the best...

I can't say anything now, very premature thread

I'll wait for the gameinformer reveal
