Why does everyone forget Tourist Trophy?

Well.....it wasn't good.

Well, they spent a good bit of time on it. It was released in 2006. And this whole 5 year dev time is completely ridiculous. It could not have started before 2006.

True, but even then.

PD has been wasting time on stuff like the HD Concept and GT5: P.

People expect Gran Turismo from them, so doing Tourist Trophy wasn't neccesary either. GT PSP has turned out to be average as well.

Problem with taking this long over anything is that expectations start to grow unrealistic.

There were pretty high expectations and claims 2 years ago. Now its just getting silly.

I wonder if PD or any company could ever match the fanboys expectations now.

I have no interest in GT5 but it had better be absolutely filled with content after all this time. At least they've been working on with it quietly without making arrogant, childish comments at every opportunity.

as a gamer i'm always fine with delays, but when you are a company trying to build momentum the release date of your most important game is vital. GT5 could have a bigger effect if it was released this christmas season, i have no doubts about that.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Well, ofcorse there been the pressure from Sony, and it is completely understandable - GT5's main rival game on a rival system is releasing this year in the pre-holiday season. It's bound to get a certain amount of impatient ppl buy the rival console and enjoy the, maybe "less than perfect", racing sim, rather to wait another year (as I've understood GT5 is releasing in March for Japan, so probably next holiday season for the western markets).

GT5 and FFXIII, as two strongest PS IP's, have certainly destroyed a fair amount of Sony's sales with all the delays.

GT has always been delayed alot, but at the end of it all.

Its always been worth it.

You do realize GT5: P probably took in $50+ million? Not a waste of time at all; it probably covered a lot of GT5's costs.

Well if you think about it PD had to completely create a new engine for this game on the PS3. I am betting that this was not a very quick process. I can' believe that people get so uptight when a game is delayed awhile and if it takes longer than expected to develop a game. I am a little upset that GT5 isn't releasing this fall? A little, but I am just going to get other games that I might have passed over and still get GT5 when it comes out next spring/summer. Heck I'll probably pick up Forza 3 now as I might have passed it up with Gt5 being released so close. I find it sort of annoying that people do not just enjoy video games anymore and are so critical and fanboyish. Even thought I am a big supporter of the PS3 and usually buy PS3 games first, I still buy games for all of my systems and still play my roommates 360 and Wii and actually buy games for those other systems that I want to play even though I do not personally have said system. Sorry for going off on a tangent there. I would rather have an amazingly polished game than one that seems rushed to get out just for the holiday season.

100% agreement, that is exactly how i feel, it seem's to me many young gamer's are lost on the whole idea, its game's for entertainment, that these developer's spend hour's and hour's of their live's that they can never get back so you or I can enjoy the game's they make.
