Forums - Sony - PSPgo Gets Price Cut in UK, 3 Days After Launch

Infinity said:
LOL They should have launched at the same price point as the DSi if they really wanted to compete.

IMO Sony has the PSP-3000 to compete with the DSi.  The PSP Go is to compete with the iPod Touch and thats why the price range is more at that level.

^^Except iPod Touch starts at £140

^^and iPod Touch is..touchy.

£225 was a stupid price, and £200 is still too high, but let's remember, even FIFA 10 had a price cut from some places, and the Wii is currently selling for £140 on amazon

I really want one, but just make a way for me to convert my UMDs Sony!

To be honest I really don't see why people complain about the price of the PSP Go, I mean, YOU think that it's too expensive, and think it's inferior due to no UMD etc. etc. , but for the people who can afford it, and are new to PSP gaming, AND want all their games in one place so they can switch while on the go, it's a perfect piece of hardware, and it has a hefty amount of features, I mean, you can play games, listen to music, watch films, make calls, and if you've got a mobile phone with you, you can use it to connect to the internet on your PSP (Not sure if the update is out yet ?), it's like the ultimate portable device, AND it looks amazing.

And to be honest, saying £200 is too much for that is ridiculous, I mean, how much was the original PSP when it was first released, around £180 or so, right ? And no one complained at that... hypocrites ! ... Haha, just kidding, but seriously... £200, heck, £225 was a damn reasonable price to be paying for a PSP Go.

£199 now? well lets make it £99 and il buy one...and so will everyone else on the planet

and Sony will still probs make profit off it being £99 lol

Yeah, and I'm sure the statements before that it was on track was true. Slashing your prices three days after doesn't show anything about a handheld's success.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

I'm sure the zero advertising Sony did led them to believe the GO would do amazing.  Sony made quick money and are now dropping slightly, if this is even their doing.  This is an alternative, not a replacement. And if you have a PSP already, it's generally NOT FOR YOU.  sony reps have already said they are happy with sales and explained theirr goals and expectations beforehand.  I honestly think some people thought this was supposed to overcome the DS or something.  Stupid, to say the least.

Eh, standard fare for here. Usually takes a couple of weeks, though.

Mind you, I think you could pick up a slightly cheaper slim about a week after launch.

This does, however, suggest a larger retail mark-up.

Online stores tend to cut prices on things sooner and more frequently then brick and mortar stores.

While it is soon for this to happen anywhere. I don't think anyone thought the system was honestly reasonably priced, Although I'm sure most of that price was to give stores that sold the system more profit off the device.
