Despite my best efforts yesterday to tell people that this game is worthwhile, users in the Microsoft forum were all too ready to crucify this game for the shoddy out-of-house x360 port. So rather than try to salvage anything from that cesspool, I've made this thread to spread the word to PC gamers who may not have heard about this game at the moment or are simply uninterested.

If you are a fan of deep open world exploratation, interacting with people, having a beautiful world to explore, and puzzle solving all without handholding you owe it to yourself to check this game out. I posted links to download the demo above, so try it out. It will run on most any computer built in the last few years, but here are the system requirements. If DD is your thing, it's available on Steam, Direct2Drive, and GamersGate.

The images are too big.

I might pick this one up. Pc version. Not the quick port. I loved Gothic 3. I had it's faults but showed hart.

You should read the eurogamer review and the comments against it. This game is getting a lot of flak.

@Stefan: From a quick glance at the comments there, they are mostly lambasting the review because the reviewer only played the shoddy x360 version. When you say "this game is getting a lot of flak" I think you mean "the x360 port is getting a lot of flak". Most of the comments I read were saying either how stupid the reviewer is, how crappy the review is ,or both.

Maybe the x360 version deserves a 4. I just can't see a reasonable way that that score would apply to the PC version though. Labeling the review as "X360/PC" and not mentioning anything about the PC version means he didn't really review the PC version.

yep, both versions are not even comparable, unlike certain games which one review is acceptable even for 3 versions of the game (PS3, X360 and PC).

I'm downloading the demo right now, probably won't buy it because I still have a lot of games to play.

Game is pretty ugly, below Gothic 3's graphics, but it's super fun, a lot like Gothic 2.

I agree with the comments that the Pc game is good and that review bullocks. the reviewer only played  the XBOX version and gave the same number the pc. Incompetent! I hate it when they do that.

It's a hard RPG like gothic 3. it's not like oblivion; where they lead you by the hand. I like rpg where you have to think, look and fight with thought.

The x360 version, probably. The PC version, absolutely not. How bad would the developer have to be to make their 2009 game look worse than their 2006 game? Go look up some screenshots for Gothic 3 and compare them to the ones in this very thread. I agree that it's a lot of fun though.

Downloading the demo rite now. I so hope it's gonna be good. There's not been many good games in a long time.

I bought the game a few days ago. The gameplay is good but hard, you will die alot(lots and lots). The soundtrack isn't annoying so thats a plus. I have the pc version and the graphics are poor. It looks like console graphics so dont expect to be wowed by the game.

I recommend downloading the demo immediately for anyone who likes Oblivion.
