Ask me again when I've bought a 3D-ready TV.

So in about.... 5 years

Well, as far as I know, 3D has nothing to do with the TV but with the video that the tv is playing and the glasses you wear. I mean, to make a 3D movie you just need to put two different videos taken from different perspective together playing at the same time and with some special glasses you'll be able to see the movie with the combined video and in 3D. I'm not an expert at this at all but that's what I've been told.

Could I be right? If I am, then you wont need a special tv really..

PS: My first post, yay.

Welcome to the forum...

You do need a special TV...but it really isn't that special, it just needs to be able to do 120 frames per second which lets it display 2 video streams at 60 frames each. The glasses only purpose is to shutter, closing each eye 60 times per second. Hence human brain thinks it is just 1 video stream that is popping out at him...and looks cool doing it.

Actually, there are glasses that do this, and you donèt even need a TV...but those glasses cost around 1000 dollars.

My TV is 60hz but word on the street is the 3D will work with any TV. If this is true then I can't wait to play Flower, and Uncharted in 3D baby!!!!11!

this is 100% true!

you DONT need  3D TV to play  PS3 games in 3D

Maybe I mix up TV's with monitors in this case....

I know that there are new 3D-monitors which can display the Nvidia 3D effect. I thought they also manufactured 3D-TVs or something like that.
So would the PS3's 3D technology work on a standard LCD monitor or not ?

EDIT: I already watched some of the 3D movies recently like Ice Age 3 & Final Destination 4 (or THE Final Destination..... The AVGN would freak out here)

I'm also wearing the new 3D glasses right now, because I'm cool. Yeah....

yep, Sony first showed 3D to only work with 3DTV's but have now changed there mind and created this new technology that works with all TV's and all you need is a Firmware update on your PS3

You're always talking about TVs. That scares me a bit TBH.

I hate 3D it hurts my eyes and gives me a really bad headache. I think this si the worst thing that Sony can do right now. They should just spend the money on game development

lol...so much false info in this thread.

Are you talking about the old red-greenish/red-bluish or the new all colour glasses ?

Because there shouldn't be a problem at all.

@Barozi

Whatever they use in theaters.
