Forums - Sales - PS3 Q4 vs. XBOX360 Q4 = Uphill climb for SONY?

@starcraft

U are correct. However, what u and the OP fail to undersatnd is that the PS3 games next year are mostly new IP's or first time this gen. This means that they will attract more new gamers to the HW, while the 360 has "heavy hitters" they are nearly all sequels to big 360 games.

Hasn't Halo ODST taught anybody (or Gears 2) that it is mostly exsisting 360 owners buying these sequels? They will not do much for HW for the 360.

TOP 12: Deus Ex, Shadow Man, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturn, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid Prime, Zelda (series), Uncharted (series), FF Tactics, Persona (series), Demons Souls, Vagrant Story.

MOST WANTED: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Last Guardian, ICO/Shadow OTC HD

White Knight Chronicles didn't sell too well in Japan. I cant even say that the original developer's intent was to even bring it to the West considering how long its taken them. The game might be good but chances are it isn't significant enough to be considered a a heavy hitter.

The only thing that is a real system seller in your list for the 360 is Natal for reasons that everyone else has mentioned. The system sellers for PS3 in your list are Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3, and maybe Agent, Heavy Rain, and The Last Guardian. These are system sellers because they are either new IP's or first of series on PS3.

P.S.- Reach is a maybe as a system seller if it really is something fresh and new.

^^ Once again, it is a "NEW IP" attracting new customers to the PS3 HW. Get it yet?

And, yes it is getting a sequel and releasing in the west 100% next year. All facts.

It's way too early to tell.

2009 isn't even over yet. 2010 games haven't been announced yet, and whether or not Natal will even make an impact remains to be seen.

I know current sales may be tough for some people to swallow, but, it's way to early to talk about next Holiday. As of now, it's all speculation.

I'm sorry?  Which of the new IP on the PS3 are you expecting to bring large numbers of new gamers in?

Both HD systems have a very large number of high quality games, and with the PS3 just about caught up to the Xbox 360 in terms of diversity, they now both have a very diverse library of games also.  The large drivers of both console's future sales will now be price and brand names.

Very few people that are going to want one of these consoles are waiting for a new IP of any kind, they're waiting for price cuts and specific existing IP's.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

incorrect. A large percentage of Ps2 owners got 360s when they came out because they were core gamers who wanted the new core system at the time. A lot of them love The Last Guardian, for instance. But dont own a ps3.

TLG will push sales. I bet 100k more than usual the week it releases.

Why are my posts being viewed as "anti-PS3"?

Why can't a mature conversation take place about the two consoles?

I haven't blasted the PS3 once in my two forum posts.

But if I don't heap praise on the PS3, I'm ANTI-PS3?

HUH?

Dude, don't worry about it.  Take their comments with a grain of salt.  Vgchartz, even though I love it, has a distinct minority of 360 fans versus a much larger population of PS3 fans.   Just ignore them, don't give them any attention.

What happened to q4 2009? The PS3 has Uncharted 2 and ? ?? , The 360 should destroy it starting with ODST's huge impact to Forza, left4dead 2 and 3, and Modern Warfare 2 which will kill the PS3 version.

True, which is why the only real "heavy hitters" on that list are GT5, GoW3, Splinter Cell, and Crackdown 2.  The rest are either sequels to games that have already been on the console or new IP's.

edit: though now that I think about it, I'm not totally sure if Crackdown 2 or Splinter Cell count.  Wasn't Crackdown on 360 and there was already a Splinter Cell on 360 as well?
